Jon shook his head and said, "What do you mean 'it belongs to the Duke'?" He was standing in the Imperium Account office in the Duchy Building on Regina, talking to a young clerk about the Diamond Asteroid he and his ship's crew found.
The clerk said, "The Duke is aware of the 'object'. It was lost - went missing, so to speak. There is a reward for finding it. Is that what you'd like?"
"We have a transpond..." he trailed off. " Did you say 'reward'?" Jon said back to the clerk.
The clerk typed on the terminal for a moment, then said, "Yes, a reward of One-quarter MegaCredit."
Jon's eyes went wide. He didn't say anything for a moment. "It's definitely better than nothing. I'll take it," he finally said.
The Clerk held out her hand, "I just need the transponder tracking data and your QualChip. Transfer over the transponder information and insert your QualChip here." she said pointing to a slot on the desk.
Jon set his hand-comp to send the information over and inserted his QualChip into the slot.
The QualChip made a beep and a boop then: "All set," the clerk said. "Duke Norris of Regina thanks you for your help in finding this object." She hands Jon a very thin piece of something that appears to be old-fashioned paper. "This is your official receipt. Have a nice orbit brighttime."
"Thank you." Jon slowly walked out of the Office. He glanced at the 250000Cr readout of his QualChip before he looked over the receipt.
He was shocked when he saw: "You are cordially invited to Duke Norris Aledon of Regina's New Year's Eve Ball on Senday, 365-1106."
"Well, at least now I can buy something nice to wear," he said to himself.
