Gateway to Destiny Review

Morte

SOC-14 1K
I submitted a review of this to rpg.net, then discovered an error (about Hi-pop rules) and also fleshed it out after getting some private feedback. Rpg.net have gone with the original version I sent them.

If you want to read the "extended remix", it's here on my website

The version on rpg.net is here

I'll ask rpg.net to switch.

In what has been a week of many screw ups for me, I'm pleased to say that I pasted that from somewhere on the QLI site. So whoever it was, it wasn't me. ;)

Good review. You've convinced me to pick up the hardcopy.

Though randomly generated UWPs are always going to be a pain in the arse in Traveller. ;)

Excellent job, Morte! That's a great review.

Thanks for sharing that with us,
Flynn

Heh yup. Unfortunately our hands are a bit tied when it comes to that so we had to make do as best we could.

Great review, thanks!

I do want to note that the print version actually will end up 256 pages. We added an additional 12 pages covering the Imperial Trade Cluster. This material covers the politics and history of the cluster as well as detailing out 3 of the more intersting worlds there.

Are you able/willing to explain a bit more about that? Did you have to maintain statistically random chargen for license reasons, or stay close to some older version of the sector, or...?

I ask because I'm curious about the way this whole RPG biz works. It all seems pretty odd at times.

Do we get it if we bought the PDF?

I think that's a fair review.

BTW: I'm enjoying the Kursis Charter Stroy Hour...

I finally checked out the Kursis Charter Story Hour too. It's very good stuff so far, and giving me a good idea as to how to actually run a Traveller game.

EDIT: ARRRGH. Hurry up and finish the writeup, I wanna know what happens next!! (and this campaign is actually from the Gateway book?)

Morte, You might also want to submit or at least have Enworld put a link to your review. (not sure on their policy)

their QLI section is kinda empty review-wise and doesn't list Gateway yet.

Always good to see a thread like your Kursis Charter Story Hour. Ursula used to have a similar summary thread until the original chronicler (Liam) got called up for overseas duty and I've not been able to provide summaries for Ursula since then or Endeavor . :(

Casey (looking for the ole Ursula summary threads in case folk are interested tho)

I know at least one of the reviews of the THB on ENWorld also appears over at RPG.net so it seems to be an OK thing. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the review over at ENWorld also ;)

I'll update the product listings over at ENWorld as well (thanks for reminding me)

</font>
The UWPs in Gateway are based on the 'official' data I got from Marc. For compatibility reasons we didn't tinker with them much other than trying to correct some of the stellar data based on CT errata.

Do we get it if we bought the PDF?
Yup. I will update the PDF next week.

Joel's game is based in Gateway but is taken fromt he Linkworlds Campaign Setting that is part of the T20 GM Screen pack.

Compatability with what though? I thought previous canon had been decanonised in this area.

The Crucis UWPs were supplied with the Ley and Glimmerdrift ones by Marc. The high pop worlds for Ley and Glimmerdrift I believe appeared in AotI.

Ah, so it wasn't quite as clean a sheet as we (i.e. me and everyone I know) all thought.

Yup. I will update the PDF next week.

Hunter </font>
Once this is done, I'll update the review on my website and upload it to ENworld.

rpg.net don't respond to emails, so it looks like that version won't be changing.
