Yup. I will update the PDF next week.

Hunter </font>
Once this is done, I'll update the review on my website and upload it to ENworld.

rpg.net don't respond to emails, so it looks like that version won't be changing.
</font>
I just finished uploading the most recent version of Gateway to the eLibrary. This one now has everything the print version does.

Thanks Hunter

Will it be disappearing as a pdf download soon, or will people have a couple of weeks to get it?
It will stay available in your eLibrary account. It just isn't available for sale anymore.

... except front and back covers. ;)

Actually, I prefer it this way -- the page numbers in the contents section actually line up with the page numbers in the PDF reader for once. May I recommend putting the covers in a separate PDF in the ZIP file to preserve this, unless there's some way to encode a page number offset into the PDF?

With regard to the UWP's in Gateway. Does the canon material remain canon in a different era? Obviously the physical characteristics aren't going to change, but what about population? Government?(that could change frequently), Law and Tech Level? All would probably change over time, more so over a 200 year time frame!
Was this a problem for TNE?

Physical characteristics could change IMHO. Atmosphere's could become tainted as a result of super volcanic eruption, nuclear war, the thousand year life cycle of some horrid fungal lifeform etc.

Sigg. I agree, but it'd be far less common, although fairly interesting! Then there could be terraforming. I suppose the Hydrographics could alter too with climate change, at least with regard to wet stuff on the ground!!
So really what we're saying is that the UWP's are only valid when surveyed.

Other than the size, yes (probably ;) )

But even then what if this happened.

Vilani scouts survey the Earth in 2004 X86797?.

In a freak alternate universe by the time the Vilani return 200 years later the Earth has been rendered uninhabitable. Survivors have fled to Mars.
So the system data would change to X43037?.
The Vilani Scouts would look at the old data, scratch their heads and move on.

Except the cover
, though I don't know if that is deliberate to keep the file size down...

Artwork? I don't remember seeing any in the previous download, but I certainly noticed it in this new version.

Well, it seems I can't upload a review to ENworld until May because their database has that as the availability date. So I'll do it then.

No. The previous "final" version is about 20 megs smaller*, had the same artwork, and a color cover. The new "final final" version has no color cover with only the addition of 12 pages that have no illustrations aside from a map of the Imperial Trade Cluster that takes up just over a 1/4 of a page. Also the filename went from the otu001s.pdf of the previous versions to otu001.pdf even though the zip filename is otu001s.zip . o.o

* it also compresses to over 1/2 the size of the "final final" version compressed so I suspect this latest version wasn't optimized as much

Maybe there are more versions about than i downloaded. I have otu001s at 16.3MB with 221 pages and no artwork. Recently I downloaded otu001 at 57.4MB, 256 pages and lots of artwork.

Yes. Three that I know of.

The 221 pages is the first version. Second added artwork, front cover page, and upped the size to about 30 some mb and was the original "final" version. Third (and final) is what I called the "final final" one above. That was uploaded after the Imperial Trade Cluster was added and the book was sent off to the printers. Only the third version is called otu001 even though the zipfile still uses otu001s.
