Good miniatures / figures?

Excellent comparison of various 25mm figures, albeit for Colonial figures. General rule of thumb is on the tabletop if you field units from the same company or of similar heft/size you should be fine. In skirmish, i.e. 1:1, or RPG scale it doesn't really matter so much as long as you don't mix 15mm with 25mm for example. ;)

Casey: 15mm humans and orcs make decent halflings and goblins for 25mm gaming...

Seriously, though, knowing when you CAN get away with mixed scales, especially for RPG's, is a skill unto itself.

Using Model Railroad accessories is a way to find some excellent kits in odd sizes...
N scale is practically 10mm;
HO is right about 18mm, so it has some appeal to 15mm players for buildings.

Some architectural and drafting suppliers have people and cars in a variety of scales. I haven't looked in years. They're often used for public comment scale models, to make the parking lots look non-empty.

Oh, and to get 1"= 1yd to 1"=1.5m, use 66%; (Correct Traveller 25/28mm groundscale)
to get it to 1"=3m (roughly 15mm), use 33% (Correct Traveller 15mm groundscale).

I sincerely hope someone will make an "official" line some day.

In the meantime, the UN Marines from Ground Zero Games are the closest to the Imperial Marines I can think of, and the Denizen Miniatures' Ventaurans (Venturians?) are the closest in outlook to the zho's.

And out there you can find vargr, too:

Check for the "Armen" range under the "Cobalt" series.

Groung Zero Games (UK mail order - very reliable) has an extensive line of 15mm SF miniatures called Stargrunts (also produced in 25mm). They are fantastic and include several alien races as well as more than a dozen different human/humanoid types. One group, called "Colonists" includes civilian types including women and children. Within te "United Nations" group is a set of power armored troopers whiich are dead ringers for the old Grenadier Traveller Imperial Marines. The figures are gorgeous - package 8different poses to a pack for 2.5 British pounds ( approx $5.00). The vehicles are evev better. Google "GZG online store for details and pictures. I have been wargaming traveller since my friensa at GDW asked me to playtes - these are the best I have ever seen. - Good Luck - Jeddek

The ships at Brigade Models are simply wonderful, thanks a bunch for the reference. I hope my local shop carries them so I don't have to hassle with online ordering. Other than that, I snooped around a bit and found the odd CAV ship to be passable (http://www.reapermini.com/albums/cav/7026_G.jpg). I'll keep looking, but there sure is a lot to add to the wishlist so far.

Brigade only does direct sales that I'm aware of, but their online cart an shipping are quite good. I've ordered from them several times with no issues.

*Reaper just launched a "Chronoscape" line of 28mm "whatever" that will yield some good Traveller models.

*Heresy makes a "not Serenity" crew.

Hasslefree has a veritable army of Geonee, and a few good PC types.

GZG has already been mentioned, but are 25mm, not 28mm. Yes, the difference is obvious.

Shadowforge offers a few SF women.

EM4 has the old Hobby Products "Spacelords" line, which includes some PC types and several flavors of heavy armor.

*Aberrant Games' "Rezolution" line is ostensibly a cyberpunkish line, but the CSO models and Dravani Executors are an easy fit for Traveller.

The game that has been VOID, Urban War, and Metropolis has a number of good high tech types, and a few models that scream "PC".

*The models for Corvus Belii's "Infinity" are expensive but gorgeous, Shirow-esque SF.

Obligatory Games Workshop reference. Most Imperial Guard models have potential.

*Rackham's AT-43 are pre-painted plastics, but the White Star, Red Star, and Karman factions are lovely and Traveller appropriate. Yes, the Karmans are gorillas in power armor. You know you want some.

Stan Johansen Miniatures ( stanjohansenminiatures.com ) which produces Space Opera minis (their Star Armour line) recently released some bear alien military figures in 15mm.
From the pics (painted & unpainted) they might make decent Aslans.
