Has anyone done a 5FW forces spreadsheet for the rest of the Marches?

Hi All,

I was checking out the page: https://members.tip.net.au/~davidjw/...nt/5fwforc.htm which discusses determining the 5FW forces for systems not involved in the game as provided by GDW...

And I was thinking about doing a spreadsheet, then thought....has someone done this already?

So I figured I'd ask.
Anyone know of someone having done a spreadsheet for the rest of the Imperial worlds?
Anyone considered the various non-aligned forces in District 268 and their reactions to the opportunities the war provided? Perhaps the forces of Trexalon striking the Imperial Client states in the region while the back of the Imperium is turned?

However Looking at the data for the sword worlds which is a pet project, and example is Narsil the atmosphere will cause a shift from 150K to 15K in Ground Troops factors according to the Troops in the Fifth Frontier War, by Marc Miller, JTAS #10 " Modifications: If the world has a hostile environment [atmosphere 0. 1.2.3.4.7, 9+ then shlft the Population column one to the left (effectively reducing the number of battalions present)". pg. 24.

But note that there is no rule for a corresponding 60% increase in navy size, as there should be if the army cut of the military budget was reduced from 40% to 4%.

According to Striker, a world's military budget is usually split 60/40 between its navy and its army. If the 40% corresponds to the usual number of battalions, then one tenth as many battalions would correspond to 4%, leaving 96% to the navy rather than the usual 60%. This is a budget increase of 60%.

OK, I'm ignoring that the equipment for protected forces would cost more than standard military equipment, but surely not anywhere near enough to make each soldier ten times as expensive. If one assumes an increase in cost of 2.5, we get 10% for the army, leaving 90% for the navy. This would mean a 50% bigger navy, which is easier to calculate than +60%, so why not go with that?

Actually, the 'divide by ten' rule is extremely crude. An army where the troops just need, say, a filter mask, shouldn't be reduced nearly as much as one that requires full protective suits.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here. Surely increasing the naval forces of all worlds with atmosphere 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 9+ by 50% is on the exact same level of abstraction as the other rule?

The question is, does such a rule make sense? For generic worlds at that level of abstraction, I mean (Obviously you can vary the figures a lot if you go into greater detail)? I submit that it does.

That being said I would like to discuss it further at sometime with you.
