HG Happy Funball

SOC-14 1K
I thought I'd run the good old Happy Funball through Andrew's excellent High Guard Shipyard program:

Ship: Claymore
Class: Broadsword
Type: Mercenary Cruiser
Architect: Dave Nelson

USP
MC-8533332-000000-40005-0 MCr 423.162 800 Tons
Bat Bear 4 1 Crew: 63
Bat 4 1 TL: 14

Cargo: 35.000 Passengers: 1 Low: 40 Fuel: 264.000 EP: 24.000 Agility: 1 Marines: 45
Craft: 2 x 50T Cutter, 1 x 4T Air/raft, 2 x 30T Spare Module
Fuel Treatment: Fuel Scoops and On Board Fuel Purification

Architects Fee: MCr 4.232 Cost in Quantity: MCr 338.530

I guess it has smaller computer and less cargo space than the "Fighting Ships" Book 2 version, but it's a little less expensive, and has 14 extra troops and space for 40 low passengers (still more troops) and a passenger space for the owner-aboard.

95 troops carried, to me, seems a lot more useful than 31.

Interesting, this is my interpretation. Somewhat more expensive and less useful.

COMMENTS

Yes, yours is closer to what's actually in the book.

I guess I meant to say, I wanted to make one that fit the overall class but was more to my liking inside. I always thought the Happy Fun Ball was less useful than it should have been, given its size. Using that extra fuel space makes for more room for staterooms and berths.

I found why mine was less expensive, I forgot to include the Small Craft prices, d'oh.

I went with 34 staterooms, with double occupancy.

Funny you should mention that. When I reverse engineered your design, it showed up an error in HGS (now fixed). Thanks, I appreciate that.

I had noticed a glitch when I upped the troop numbers to fit the staterooms at one point, maybe that was the problem you found.

By the way, can HGS actually print out the "Detailed Description" you've included or is that a manual project?

When you added troops with a book 2 crew and double occupancy staterooms it rounded up the number required staterooms. Really annoying.

Not yet, you'd have to dump it to file and print from notepad or something like that. However, I've not frozen the spec for 1.1 yet, so I'll add it to the list.

Opps, I just realised that I'd misunderstood the question. Yes HGS does automatically generate the detailed description (I thought you were asking if it could send it to a printer). Its the "Text Export" option on the file menu. I introduced it in v1.05, though the text export in the latest beta is a lot more complete.
