High Energy Weapons

Just a quick query. The Reformation Coalition Equipment Guide lists a number of high energy weapons, Plasma Bazooks, Plasma Rifle and Fusion Gun with full stats which included the weapons length. Does anyone know how these lengths were calculated. All the weapons with lengths listsed have a bulk rating of 5 which would normally mean a weapon length of 75cm but these three weapons dont.

Some of my older designs also listed weapon lengths but I have no memory of how these were derived. Any ideas?

For plasma and fusion guns length isn't calculated, only bulk.
To make matters worse, the weapons listed in Reformation Coalitions equipment guide are outdated by the "Putting the heat back into plasmaguns" chapter in Striker II, which upgrades the weapons.

Maybe the length is calculated in the same way as laser rifles/pistols?

Putting the heat back had the effect of reducing cartridge sizes and changing range, penetration and costing rules, but the size of the firing unit (the gun bit) and the supporting hardware (the backpack bit) remained unchanged as these were based on the power output of the cartridge.

As noted above you did not attach stocks, barrel length or receiver length as all were subsumed.

I tried using the laser formula but this did not come anywhere near quoted lengths. I don't have to list lengths with the weapons I put together.

If any relationship exists I assume it must be between the volume of the firing unit and the TL bulk modifier?

Again I suppose I don't have to list the lengths, after all no one is going to try and prop a door open with a plasma rifle are they.
