2 Missile Batteries at factor 9 has a base to-hit of 2.
(-1 at short range)
Still can't hit! Doh!

Okay... I was going to analyze this further, but if the Strike Cruiser can't hit the Fer-de-lance, then this is a done deal.

That's two attempts to create an interesting fleet battle and both of them are pointless!

(Were any scenarios or "serious" fleets ever published for High Guard? I have the second volume BFB for JTAS issues... there are articles in there for TCS. I didn't see anything about interesting fleet battles, though....)

(I'm afraid to run the huge ships-- the number of bearing batteries is just insanely large.... Are you really supposed to be playing this with 10+ ships to a side?)

For CT? Just a few in Alien Module I think, and those are small and mostly civilian. 100ton Scout, 200ton Courier, 400ton Trader, 600ton Escort , and 800ton Liner. All Book 2 designs.

There is also a good selection of Zhodani warships included with the miniatures game Power Projection:Fleet.

While HG stats are not included, it's easily possible to reverse-engineer them.

Weren't they designed using HG then converted to PP originally?

Perhaps BITS should produce a fighting ships book that gives the USPs as well...

don't know if they have the licence to do that though?

Yes, they were built in HG and then 'ported to PP:F. I don't know what rights they have to publish the HG stats.

FASA's High Passage Magazine has a two-page or so High Guard fleet battle in every issue that relates to that issue's adventure.

No, I lied, only issue 5 has one. For some reason I thought every issue had it. Here it is:

15 Merchant Vessels: For the purposes of this scenario, all merchant ships in the convoy are considered to be unarmed and unarmored, with 1 G acceleration and agility 0. They are deployed in reserve.
Note: Players may feel free to deploy a variety of ships of different capabilities in the merchant convoy. The FASA ship packages comprising Adventure Class Ships, Volume 1, Adventure Class Ships, Volume 2, and Merchang Class Ships, plus GDW Supplement 7, and a variety of other sources can all be used to supply these ships.

Situation: Captain Elashgar, in proceeding on a direct course to Fisher's world, violated a major tenant of interplanetary naval warfare: he permitted his command to enter an asteroid belt where sensors could not provide early warning for the convoy. He would have been much wiser to take extra time by looping out of the stellar ecliptic, and hence, remaining outside the belt. During the passage of the belt, th pirates attacked.

this action should be resolved in accordance wiht the rules in High Guard and Trillion Credit Squadron. The pirate player must attempt to break the Imperial defense and attack the merchant vessels in reserve. The Imperial player must drive off the pirates.

Don't forget there is also the rather spiffy 2000-dton Type ZF Council Cruiser in there -- she's noteworthy mostly for being designed to, among other things, support Core Expeditions (her j-drive is J-4 but she carries extra fuel to extend her range to six parsecs total) and for being one of the rare canonical starship designs to feature another starship (a J-3 Type ZC Courier) as a carried craft.

I'm about half a year late I guess... I designed the Zhodani ships for PP:F. And as far as I'm concerned, I would not have any problem with the HG USPs being published anywhere.
In fact, here you go:

There is a zho patrol frigate (600tns) in the IISS ship files by GDW (OOP) and some in the FASA adventure class ships, from memory its a Type A trader, a scout ship, a leader scout, and an SDB.

Cheers
Richard
