Honor Explains Traveller

I think of it as Successful Author Syndrome. A few authors seems to be immune, but most come down with it when they become too successful for editors to dare/care to edit them.
Hans

That's not bad, but I really liked the diarrhea comparision. Someone here at CoTI used that back when there was an Honorverse forum.

I just couldn't stand the sanctimonious prig that is Captain Harrington.

As for hearing the dice... I could hear the impulse chrt callouts as well.

I tried, but couldn't get more than halfway through book 1 because I found I couldn't relate to the main character... with the space cat... and the katana. Just not my cup of tea.

She only gets less sympathetic, IMO, as the series drags on. Call me when Webber kills her off..

She's Alan Dean Foster's Flinx (with Pip) crossed with Captain James Tiberius Kirk... but that beats the #$^(*^ out of both left-wing peaceniks and right-wing bigots.

Truly, something to irritate everyone!

Donaldson? Was that the one where he bascially ripped off Nordic Mythology and crossed it with perversions up the wazoo? Gads, I think I actually read those, but have tried to excise them from my memory.

Well, I am glad I am not the only one who had some difficulty getting through the later books in the series.

I actually made it as far as Ashes of Victory (or was it War of Honor?); I borrowed it from the local library and returned it unfinished. I got it later and had to struggle a bit to finish. Now, everything after Flag in Exile is in the bookstore section of a local books-and-games store, and that only because they wouldn't take the first ones.

Keep in mind of one of the small (in back of his mind) secert desires for the series was for it to goto TV or Big Screen.

He's succeeded. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_Harrington#Honor_Harrington_in_other_media

>Call me when Webber kills her off..

.... not yet but she only has bit parts in things like shadow of saganami and the short story anthologies
