Smells bad. Tastes worse. How people learned to drink this bitter, bitter, horrible brew?

Blame it on the Ottoman Turks attacking Vienna.

And it tastes fantastic when you get a hot container from the mess sergeant when the temperature is a minus 40 (same either Fahrenheit or Celsius).

All I have to say:

It is through caffeine alone that I set my mind in motion
It is with the brew of the Bean that my thoughts acquire speed
The speed becomes a stain
The stain becomes a warning
It is with caffeine alone, that I set my mind in motion.

:coffeegulp::coffeegulp::coffeegulp::coffeegulp::

RIGHT ON!!!!

There's a better scanning version that I've seen

It is by caffeine alone that I set my mind in motion.
It is through the beans of Java that
The thoughts acquire speed,
The teeth acquire stains,
The stains become a warning.
It is by caffeine alone that I set my mind in motion.

Coffee also works nicely for me when it comes to treating headaches. My daughter, who is now a registered nurse, has been on my case for years about taking too much aspirin and Excedrin for headaches. After experimenting, a 24 ounce CJ's Donut Shop coffee is about as good as two Extra-strength Excedrin for headaches. As for Tylenol, that is about as useful for me as taking a sugar pill.

I prefer to drink tea when I get the chance to enjoy a hot beverage, but I don't mind a good coffee. I don't really like most of the disgusting coffee that you can get at the store though, Folgers is terrible.

What ruins coffee for most is the oils going rancid. Simply washing your pots and grounds baskets thoroughly on a daily basis will noticeably improve the taste.

Once the brew cycle is done - remove the grounds!

Transfer your coffee to a clean thermos or insulated carafe (thus taking it off heat) will allow you to enjoy the coffee for hours. If you do not have one, let the coffee go cold and reheat in the microwave - it will be just as good.

Donut shops usually have the best coffee, but if you find yourself with convenience station coffee, the use of creamers and sweeteners is recommended.

Dark roast coffee is usually goes down very well.

When I was in the US Air Force I did not drink coffee yet they forced me to pay into their "coffee "club and rotate through cleaning and making coffee.

My first rotation through "cleaning" had me using comet cleanser and a lot of elbow grease to get the entire interior of the pot back to bare metal. I never had to do the making coffee and cleaning rotation again.

:-)

Ah, they understood that you destroyed the flavor built up over many years of use in the pot. I did the same thing while on KP duty while a cadet officer at Fort Riley one summer. I do not think that the coffee pots had been cleaned in about 20 years. The NCOs were wondering who messed with the coffee the next day.

yes, I did not know that cleaning the pot destroyed the flavor. But for the purposes of this poll, I will not drink coffee even if you force me to buy it and brew it.

My wife likes Yankee Candle. so I might be able to run the coffee one by here without getting shot. She is not a coffee drinker, but like the smell of the beans and the coffee brewing.
