How many D wounds from a 10 ft/3 m fall?

A truly grave situation

Those damage ranges sound great!

One problem, are they modified for the planetary gravity? Wouldn't it be true that falling on a high G world would be more painful? Less painful on low G?

If the Pope falls on the moon, does he break his hip? Does anyone hear him scream?

I'm still going to use my "original" ad hoc version, although I may modify it for angle of slope, and thereby toss the K.I.S.S. principle out the airlock!

Yeah ... check this out ... Use my "ad hoc" procedure with the following DMs:

GRADUAL SLOPE (less than 30°): DM-5 per die.
GENTLE SLOPE (30° to less than 45°): DM-4 per die.
MODERATE SLOPE (45° to less than 60°): DM-3 per die.
STEEP SLOPE (60° to less than 75°): DM-2 per die.
SHARP SLOPE (75° to less than 90°): DM-1 per die.
SHEER SLOPE (90° or greater): No DM.

Treat each die roll (with DMs) of less than 1 as a roll of 1.

As always, results IYTU may vary.

On the matter of Andrew Keith, I will consider every utterance from his lips, and every scrivening from his pen, no matter how tangential or oblique, which pertains to Traveller in all its variant forms as canon when the good Mr. Miller publically proclaims it as such to all and sundry.

And not one microsecond before.

High gravity world would "Hurt" more yes, for the same distance.

In the end, what really matters here is kinetic energy, modified by physiological factors, such as do you land feet first, straight-leg, all fours, knees flexed, at an angle, tuck and roll, flat on belly smack, etc. modified by the hardness of the surface landed upon, granite being harder than stunt air bags, sharp, rocky granite or a pit with spikes being worst of all. Thus the die roll.

Comma, however, I am pretty sure I read somewhere of a Russian stewardess that fell out of an Aeroflot plane, or somesuch, and landed in a haystack and walked away.

Recently, a teenager fell from a few stories up in I think it was NYC, and little to no damage, as he bounced off of railings, etc.

I'm still a fan of 1d6 per 10 feet. I might go off and calculate some kind of Kinetic energy per distance chart...again, physiological factors will make it vary wildly.

For those with time on their hands, ponder, it also depends on the mass and shape of the object, ie. man, man with parachute, or small spider / bug.

I mean, how many out there know a kid with a bedsheet that leapt off the garage, and broke his ankle?
