How much for a license?

I haven't heard anything from the Mongoose people, so I'm wondering how much does it cost to purchase a license so I can sell my Traveller adventures.

Thanks for any reply.

They don't answer those questions because the answers are already in files you can get for free- pull the developer's kit.

IANAL, IANYL:
It boils down to this:
  • Non-OTU MgT - free, just submit the license card from the Traveller Developer's Kit, and follow the rules
  • OTU Foreven Sector - Free, just submit the license card from the Traveller Developer's Kit, and follow the rules for the Foreven Free License.
  • OTU other - Pick one:
    • submit on spec to be published by Mongoose
    • Publish for free with the OTU disclaimers from MWM.
    • Submit to SJG on spec for JTAS
    • Negotiate a license with MWM
    • Submit to MWM for him to publish for free
  • Non-MGT non-OTU: Pick one:
    • Publish for free with the disclaimers from MWM.
    • Submit to SJG on spec for JTAS
    • Negotiate a license with MWM
    • Submit to MWM for him to publish for free

So far, Marc has published one OTU item for non-MGT, and that as official but free - Robots for MegaTraveller.

I assume Mark Miller. Don't know what the middle initial is for.

All I know is that the name on the box, and the emails, is "Marc W. Miller"

I believe that the current license for MgT precludes Marc from making new commercial licenses until it expires... I know that Hunter said it prevented renewing the T20 license.

Interesting, but does this effect T5 in anyway?

Well, when I first started the projects back in 2005 things were essentially settled, and Hunter and I exchanged a few emails about the topic. Back then this was essentially THE place to upload and sell your stuff, lest you purchased a third party license.

As a lot of you know things got really hairy for me on the personal front around 2009 and the year before last. It's only been in the last few months that I've taken reign again and can contemplate reengaging my projects.

I asked a lot of favors from Wayne and a couple others to do maps for me, and I'd like to share the work, but I would also like to offset the cost some by selling PDFs for a few dollars per download.

Now the Mongoose deal has kind of put a crimp on my original plans. That's not such a big deal, as all of the concepts I wanted to publish are essentially non-canon as far as events in the OTU go. That, and the adventures really don't smack of epic events that shake the Imperium or her neighbors, so I think I'm in the clear there.

I thought that if I sold the house and moved I could pay for training on the latest cameras for the media career I want, and then maybe purchase a license so I could either upload and sell the adventures here, or setup a website for the same.

Well...heck. I'll think of something. Thanks for the replies.

Does Mongoose have dibs on T5 as well? If not, then maybe I can port my stuff over to that rule system.

Last we heard officially, yes, they do. From what Marc's been implying, I think he's going to be self-publishing it, and it looks like they may have passed on it.

Convert it for use with MGT, and sell it under the free MGT license.

Well, I'll see what happens. I've got about a dozen concepts, two completed, a third in development, that I'd like to test out.

I've only glanced at T5's pre-release CD. I'll brush up on it, and see what happens in the meantime.
