How often do you add to a user's reputation?

Wait, I Have A Reputation?

I don't ever remember seeing the Scales before. I am usually focused on writing or reading a Post. But now that I am aware of it, it seems I have a some Reputation Points (embarrassed). Are they just for letting a CotI know that other CotI's like their participation or Posts? I have to admit, I did feel a warm fuzzy feeling in my chest.

on a related subject, I do my best to Rate Threads that I find very entertaining, amusing, informative, or thought provoking. I have to be really unimpressed with a Thread to actually give it a bad Rating. fortunately, I don't think I have done this yet, on this Forum at least.

I would suspect a setting that is incorrect in the back office portion of the software or bug of some sort.
