Ideas for Animal Encounters?

Given your target audience, I might suggest making an animal NPC that your daughter could find as a companion/pet. Something somewhat cute, intelligent, maybe even psionic to allow a stong bond and communication. That way, even if you wanted to move away from animal encounters in the future, she'd always have that element in the game.

Sounds like a beaked monkey or "Beaker" to me. You should be able to find it in one of the Traveller's Aid Journals. The low teens as I recall.

If you are really feeling sadistic introduce a cinnamon rat.

Right. Okay.

I know I'm not a moderator, but I have to say something here. There are certain rules of conduct on this board that we all agree to obey when we sign up. Breaking those rules is a no-no.

Suggesting that someone introduce a lawyer into thier game to torment thier charcters contravenes every thread of common decency in the world, and risks causing permanent psychological scarring to many people.

I mean, a lawyer? That's cruel man. Very cruel. A cinnamon rat is bad, but a lawyer? You're an evil, nasty man... ;)

I had tremendous success with a group that assisted in the colonization of a waterworld's hydrosphere with a bunch of phins - uplifted dolfins and killer whales. Their favorites, however were the quirky band of uplifted leopard seals. They were cute, cuddly, and viciously lethal to anyone who threatened them.
The party consisted of an Aslan couple, with the male absolutely FREAKED about working on the water, a Solomani ex-pat Hunter, and the usual rogue's gallery.
I'm searching for my top-to-bottom modelling of that world's ecosphere simply because it turned out to be such a hoot. Tanuki's right - there are all sorts of...interesting...things in the ocean.
