Impressing the Natives

^ Well, mine still haven't learned but it's part of the characters' charm! The players seem to relish their characters getting in trouble!?!

And with respects to splitting up, they're still trying to regroup:

Eng managed to survive the hunting trip (it was close), maintained the secrecy of the base (also very close), and made himself friends with an enemy ambassadorial attache (Zho for reference only) from across the border. The Zho are willing to assist the rebels, if only to weaken Imperial resistance to another invasion.

Pilot delivered the RQ after a prolonged chase/battle with some raiders looking for an easy mark. Once the RQ was exposed as a combatant, they had to track down and destroy all the witnesses! Come to find out, the client met them in a disguise but Pilot recognized his mannerisms as those of the Zho.

Nav receives some help from a mysterious cloaked stranger and manages to elude capture by Imperial security. The stranger somehow paralyzes her, removes the Ancient artifacts from her as payment, and disappears as she fades into unconsciousness. She wakes up a day later, in her ship, in orbit.

Friendly interloper with observation:

Once the players are seen as less than gods by the locals some resentment might start to brew--

Kipling's Man Who Would is obvious and perhaps some good ideas can be culled from Cortez's relationship with the Aztecs. Eventually the Aztecs figured that Spaniards could be killed and began to test out this theory.

If you really wanted to get darkly baroque things could take an ugly turn into Conrad and Heart Of Darkness. Handsome wooden stockade decorated with heads and all. All poer corrupts and absolute power ...well that's in the hands of the referee so you must be absolutely corrupted by now.

Oops. I see I posted too late and based on a prior page update to throw my little cup of gasoline on the fire. Perhaps next time.

Though Heart of Darkness should always be mentioned. For the unilluminated, Heart of Darkness may also be spelled in a modern spelling as A-P-O-C-A-L-P-S-E-N-O-W. Look for it under Conrad in the local library or bookstore.

^ I was really tempted to do a COL Kurtz type in this adventure (would have been the downed scout) but I decided to save him for later ...
