IMTU the Imperium has simplified the military firearms issue and here are a few guidelines.
Snub pistols are 5MM with ten shot magazines
Auto pistols are 10MM with ten shot magazines
SMGs are 10MM with thirty shot magazines
Carbines are 10MM with thirty shot magazines
The 10MM weapons all fire the same cartridges and the magizines are interchangeable, this greatly simplifies logistics within the vast reaches of the Imperium. Long range tactical sniper rifles fire a 15MM projectile and shotguns are 20MM bore.
