Is there no more Moot?

I began subscribing to the Moot either last week or the week before last, and I don't see too much activity going on. What's happened to the Moot?

It's always been pretty quiet in there. A few of us (well, I egotistically include myself ;) ) try to stir stuff up in the silent tower now and then but to be honest there's just more to be involved in on the board at large.

To be honest I miss The Pit more than I would The Moot

But I understand the reasons The Pit has been closed each time, even if I don't agree with them and only accept it grudgingly.

It lacks participation mainly. And membership is missing some of the exclusive features. Not all, but some. So it's not the deal it once was. On the other hand that was never the reason I, and others, signed up anyway.

And I'm not even sure it (the signup) is working properly at the moment and wouldn't recommend anyone leap in without knowing and accepting the risks. Chiefly that you might end up with nothing for your money. Anyone who's looked around the website a bit should know that already though. Or simply asking before leaping would also likely garner fair warning.

The primary reason people used to join the moot was access to early T5 draft stuff; Marc stopped doing that due to not being happy with the feedback. (I'm certain mine wasn't what he wanted to hear, for example... I didn't like a lot of what was released in the moot spire.) But that was several years ago.

Really, the best reason for joining the moot is because Hunter uses that for keeping the board running. And, IIRC, extra PM's.

I wouldn't know about that. I pushed for the T5 forum to be separate from the Moot because there were Moot subscribers who had NOT paid for T5, and there were T5 buyers who weren't Moot subscribers.

I'll confess that I wasn't involved in the original playtest, so I have NO idea what kind of feedback Marc was receiving. And I don't really want to know.

I just want to clarify that the reason for taking T5 out of the moot was because that process kept T5 buyers from being involved in T5 development, not that Marc was unhappy with feedback.

Hunter noted that Marc was unhappy with the whole process.

Marc stopped using the Moot well before the T5 private forum. The T5 public forum was an interim, as was Rob's T5 board (long since defunct).

Ah, The Pit. It was kinda like mud-wrestling with a prostitute. It's fun while you're there. And then you feel dirty.

I miss the pit. It's still there. You can't post, but all 740 threads still exist. And the mods can go back an read it all... On second thought, after a quick browse, I'm just as glad it's closed.

Lots of T2k stuff belongs in the pit.

*wanders into the coversation*

I can not lie, I subscribed for a variety of reasons, my own avatar, access to the Moot (which is awfully quite, indeed), help Hunter pay for fuel, and of course to have Baron as my Title. :)

So Far Trader, wanna run up stairs and see if we can get something started? Though I might take the elevator, a klick is an rather long climb.

So, to recap:

Moot membership benefits:
Access to the Moot Spire forum
Access to a small handful of articles.
you may have a blog on COTI
you may have a custom avatar
you get more PM space
you get a nifty title.
your handle is in bold text
When/if hunter gets back to work on his next game design, you'll probably get playtest invites.

Most Interesting.
