Long range stunner

How does that link relate to weapons? In any case, sure, 200 dB is quite dangerous (that's 10 kW/m^2; even the thermal effects are significant). However, the point of less-than-lethal weapons is to disable people without causing permanent damage, which means you can't go much above 160 dB.

because a way to focus sound so as to allow a "beam" to be sent to a select person or group as a private audio signal can be tuned to a frequency that will incapacitate instead of allowing them to listen to the beatles. and the point of less than lethal is to not kill them. it would be nice to incapacitate with minimal harm, but it is not the main point. the major problems with current "less than lethal" equipment is that at short ranges they are in fact potentially lethal, and at long ranges rather ineffective.

the point was made earlier that sound was not an effective means to this end. i remembered seeing something on the idiot box about ultrasonics being developed as a "beam" of sound. i could not find the link (ran out of time) to the actual weapon being developed, but i think the company is the same. either way- sonic stunners are possible. as i have done no research in the matter, other than loud music, i pulled 200 db outta my  (ahem) because i knew that was definately loud enough to take down preety much anything alive.
