Looking for Aldeberan sector data...

Flynn

SOC-14 1K
Good morning, All,

I'm looking for Aldeberan sector data, preferably that which matches the dot maps found in various MT products. Aldeberan Sector was not one of those created as part of the so-called Genii files, so I am looking for another source for data. (The sector found at the CORE website does not match the dot maps.)

If such data does not exist, is there an application that makes the creation of UWP data from a dot map easy. (I can do it by hand with Galactic, but it sure is a pain.)

Thanks in advance,
Flynn

I understand that GURPS is putting out a GT sector book on Aldebaran sometime this year or next, so I assume that they are working on some form of data. Does anyone know who I might need to talk to in order to ask about their sector file information? I want to make sure that the submission I propose for Rimward States (a TNE 1248 sourcebook) is compatible with theirs, or at least does not conflict with it.

Thanks in advance,
Flynn

wow...I never paid much attention to the rim, but you're right - the map for Aldebaran doesn't match the dotmap in Solomani & Aslan.
My copy DOES have the correction for the Home system and a correction for the J tech world that the Sunbane file has, but still....
As for a program that generates based off a dotmap... nope. Can't really see how it would - I've got dotmaps on paper and in .gif .jpg and .bmp... there is too much variation in style (ie a gypsycomet style dotmap vs the plain types in DGP or the one Galactic generates) and even the location on the DGP maps is not consistant (the row spacing changes just enough to negate the digitalization... trust me, I've converted over a dozen based off of the DGP books)...

On my backburner is finishing the Galactic maps for the Aslan, as well as furhter Rimward, but right now I'm still working on Far Frontiers and more Vargr Sectors... But if you need any assistance, drop me a line...

Thanks, all. I've written Jon about the situation, and will abide by what he has to say on the matter.

If I want to insure compatibility between products (and I do if possible, even though they're to be produced by two different companies), I'd like to use the same base sector data, at the least. I am still working on the proposal, and we most likely won't see the book until 2005, depending on the publication date of Bearers of the Flame. If things can work out so that they aren't mutually exclusive, that'd be cool. Otherwise, I'll end up going with whatever Martin and Hunter direct me to on the matter. This is, of course, dependent on whether Martin likes the proposal. (He has acknowledged my desire to write this one, though, so that's a first step.)

Thanks for the feedback, All,
Flynn
