Looking to sell comics

Hey all.

Does anyone know of a good website where a guy can sell his comic book collection? I have mostly DC, but some Marvel, and a couple other assorted titles.

I'd post this down in the Duty Free section, but it's not really a Traveller issue as such.

Has anybody had any luck with Craig's List or Ebay?

Ghost: I have bought some on EBay. Not collections, but specific runs of comics I've missed. You may get better money/sales if you Ebay them in themed sets.

I am about to get rid of some comics, too... so please let me know how this works out for you!

If you are looking for a quick sale and aren't too concerned about getting the collectable price, a comic book shop might get you better results. Last I checked, eBay charges you even if you don't sell.

If it doesn't sell, and you relist it and it sells then, they refund the fees from the first auction. And unless you have an extremely high initial bid or reserve bid, then the fee for an unsold item is trivial (like $0.40).

Thanks all. I'll cope out Ebay.

I checked Craig's list, and then a few of the online stores to see what they were charging, and it's almost like night and day in terms of pricing. Some of the online stores are asking for fairly hefty prices... something like $70 for some #1 issue of a comic that had been published in the last 15 years, while the same comic on Craig's list is going for $5.

Amazing. I've got scattered issues of story arcs that interested me. No complete collections as such. I'll see what I can conjure.

Thanks again for the replies.

No worries there imo. It's not an actual sale thread, just advice on doing it. This is as good a place as any for that. Actual sales though do belong in the Duty Free section of course. Good luck BG :)

Online stores, brick and mortar stores, even some eBay sellers list at patently ridiculous prices. They know they'll only get that price from that one in a million collector with more money than they need and a compulsion for completion. I've seen some of those items languish for years at the listed price with nary a nibble. I've even made a fair (to me ;) ) offer now and then on some overpriced (imo) collectibles and been turned down. That's fine, all part of the game :D

And of course quality is a big part of price differences. Some runs even have reprints that go cheap (or high when misrepresented).
