Mansion Floorplans

Can anyone with a black belt in Google Fu help me?

I'm looking for some floorplans for a huge mansion that might belong to a crime boss, bent politician or megacrp director.

I've tried variations around 'mansion floorplans' and I've found a number of self-build architect designs, but I'm finding very little over 10,000 sqft.
They're big enough for a family and a housekeeper/nanny, but I can't find anything that would have a couple of pools, a full staff and accommodation for a private army. I'd guess I'm looking for something around 50,000 sqft.

I'm guessing that sort of money goes for a custom build and doesn't want us commoners snooping around their layouts on the internet.

Any ideas?

Note that this provides useable thumbnails, but nor readable ones.

Also, just about any UK district website should have links to the planning council; many many plans are buried within. You'll need to so some work to find what you're looking for, tho'.

I'd start by using the ordinancesurvey.gov.uk to find a large enough building, then search the local council for any plans. It's a long and involved, but simple, process.

Postcard Worthy

Might not be what you are considering but any thought given to adapting a recognizable landmark structure for your needs ?

A favorite of mine has always been Seattle's Space Needle or the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Reunion Tower in Dallas Texas is another possible suggestion, mind all are a bit over the 50K cap on floorspace but one might do a bit of 'home improvements' to meet your goal.

The LORD is my rock.

Mountains people, nothing screams super villain like a mountain top lair.

Oh and of course, we never publish the Plans for such things where mere peons can find them, you at least have to have a Minion account. :p

And the mountain Top lairs counterparts, the underground fortress lair. An innocuose warehouse with an elevator hidden in the secure storage area, etc etc and soforth, you get the idea. For shear ammusement factors, use a D&D module as a an amusement park fright house and put the secret entrence in it. After hours the safeties are disengaged on the robotic critters.........

Hi

Hi,

If you don't mind spending a couple dollars (euros?) you can check out a site like DriveThruRPG or similar. Doing a quick search on mansions there brings up a couple possibilities.

Regards

Thanks for the tips, guys. :)

I found a couple that might do the trick. It looks like I might have been overestimating the size of mansions you see on TV cop shows. I found that Graceland is only 17,000 sqft, so maybe 'Don Luigi's place' is only 10 - 20k after all?

Hmm, an arch-villain lair is a bit OTT for this scenario, but it's a good idea to store away - I could use some of the penthouse plans I found, they already have elevators included.

You seem to have deep knowledge of the British planning system, Aramis, have you spent time over here?

Cheers.

Nope. Just run a bunch of pendragon, and made extensive use of OS maps. ;)

I found the council plans issue by accident, remembered the bit from HHGTTG, and discovered that, indeed, the plans are on file, and can be accessed electronically.
