Misjumps - Non-Canon Options?

If that were the case, most planets wouldn't permit starships anywhere close to their planets, let alone major population centres. Intersetllar travel might be restricted to the military and megacorporations operating heighliners.

I would tend to believe that as part of a starship's 'active' transponder code, the status of the vessel's jump drive would be so included.

My interpretation of such would be that starships approaching a world for either a dirt-side landing or docking to an orbital facility, would 'broadcast' the state of various onboard systems that might be considered hazardous to such destinations.

Said systems of primary concern would be the inbound ship's weapons, powerplant and jump-drive.

Joachim: [Enterprise is running with shields down] They still haven't raised their shields.

Khan: Raise ours.

[Joachim raises shields]

Spock: Their shields are going up.

Khan: Lock phasers on target.

Joachim: [looks at targeting computer] Locking phasers on target.

Spock: They're locking phasers.

Kirk: Raise shields!

Khan: Fire!

[Joachim fires phasers]

Here's a thought- misjump means it doesn't jump at all, safeties kick in and prevents jump but now the ship has NOT escaped whatever it is that precipitated the desire to risk, has to reset drives/generate a new jump plan AND has to dump 50% of the fuel it was using for jump.

Crickets after that last suggestion. That strongly suggests you gents WANT that Millennium Falcon getaway option built in without horrible consequences.

Misjump - something goes wrong but the ship definitely enters something the crew thinks is jumpspace.
Pre-T5 jumpspace was described as a series of extradimensional realms that the jump drive can access.
Think of it a bit like an electron jumping from one energy level to another - a jump 1 engine can access the jump 1 jumpspace, a jump 2 engine can use the jump 2 dimension etc.

Temporal misjump
We know that stuff can go wrong - the jump usually takes a week, temporal anomaly with the jump makes it take a shorter or longer period (note that the temporal anomaly may not be noticeable in the ship, i.e. the ship clocks say a week has gone by while in our universe it could have taken 1-6 days or 1-6 weeks; alternatively the jump takes a week in our universe but the ship crew experiences the 1-6 day or 1-6 weeks.
Distance anomaly
This is what lead to the discovery of higher jump levels IMHO. In the early days of jump travel occasionally a jump 1 ship would misjump 1-6 parsecs and live to tell the tale. Research would eventually lead to the jump 2 drive and then on to the jump 3 etc.
However ships misjumping are actually displaced 1dx1d (1 to 36) parsecs.
Just imagine being able to build a jump engine the same size and fuel requirements as jump 1 but could travel in misjump dimentsions 1-36 parsecs - many Imperial research stations are investigating this.
Weird Stuff
You may come out of jump space after a misjump thinking nothing is wrong, only to discover that you have been rotated through a higher dimension so that all your left handed proteins are right handed - special diet for the rest of your life required unles you can undo the effect.
While in jump space you encounter ghosts
While in jump space you encounter a jump kraken
While in jump space you attract the attention of an extra-dimensional metaconscious entity (TNE interview with Dave Nilsen - these things were going to be canon)
You exit jumpspace into an alternative reality.
