Nice deckplans...

Cool. Bugger to land, though - instrument only approach I would say. That whole central cargo section could be detachable, kind of a mega-container. Actually, it doesn't look that big, it could be a starport cargo-handling vessel.

Frank and his crew do great work! I really like their detail. I only wish we could infect a few with the LBB2 virus.

thank you for the comments regarding the work in our Gallery guys.

However, I feel a correction is in order.

Ran Targas - we are no longer associated with Frank Bonura and he did not contribute to the Corona.

There are several other projects that you might be interested in which can be found in our forum.

thank you and kind regards,
Lucas

Aside from making a deckplan I did *sixteen years ago* look sad and vaguely derivative (top bridge and big cargo nose, though the lines are different), I like it.

Good to see you on CotI, Lucas P! Nothing like a bit of cross-fertilisation to move on ship design into new directions.

One of the things I love about freighter designs: as long as you have a big box/sphere/cylinder/whatever for the cargo section, you can do anything you want with the rest of the layout.

Apologies, I assumed he was still involved in SWDA. But the compliment still stands; you all do very fine work, well beyond my patience. Thanks from all us psuedo-wannabe-gearheads!

thank you again guys. We are trying our best to make existing deckplans make sense within the technological criteria of the source material as well as the ergonomics, such as movement and placement of rooms.

It irks me to no end to see deckplans with potential be ruined by little to no thought given to ergonomics and ease of use...it seems that Star Wars Deckplans and Schematics are ridiculously plagued by that.

It is our goal to make them make sense.

thank you for the kind words and the warm welcome. We greatly appreciate it!

kind regards,
Lucas

So any chance of y'all trying your collective hands at some Classic or Mega Traveller designs? Sure could use some retconned traders and such.

well, I'll never say never. I'm sure that some of our members might be interested, but we are currently trying to get as much done on our projects to really distinguish ourselves from our roots (if you know what I mean).

We could also use some help in the development of our projects - anyone is welcome....but it is strictly star wars.

In fact I was very surprised to see the link from here, considering it is technically a totally different universe, even though proper orthographic projection and sensible design is universal...so then perhaps I should not have been surprised.

I spent several hours going through almost every page of the forum several weeks ago. It's a great place just to stimulate the imagination. I snipped a few designs too; hope y'all don't mind.

I used to hand draw several ship plans in the past. Now I tend to use pagebuilder since they added Campaign Cosmographer. I hope to be able to convert some of my better old plans into CC.
My plans may not suit everybody since I only use enough data to use the ships in a campaign instead of giving the full HG treatment. I used to do work for others but had a few bad experiences & don't do that anymore. I don't mind if anyone borrows any of my original plans if they want to. All I ask is that they acknowledge me or leave a link back to my site.

Typical of Star Wars "Light Freighters" when put under the Traveller interrogation lamp, the Corona is tiny, to the tune of 60-70 dtons total, and built for short duration flights. In Traveller terms, that looks like a Small stateroom and five bunks, about 25 tons of cargo space, and an immense engineering section. For Traveller's purposes, much of that can be fuel space, but it's still a bit small to be doing FTL. Massaging the scale a bit might be all that's necessary to make it large enough though...

Altering the scale so the cargo bay is 6m wide bumps the cargo space to closer to 35 tons, allows the crew spaces to be considered a full stateroom and five smalls. The remaining space just about makes a J-1, M-1 work.

That's what I thought, too (see the second post in the thread). I think the concept would make a cool small craft: a twin-module cutter.

That's on the list now, for Gruffty's Spica Small Craft forum when my High Guard gets unpacked!

At 38 meters it's shorter than a Type S, and has significantly less cross-section. Crew of four. Call it 100-tons, but don't call it too loudly...

Nice design, though.

Thank you very much for the comments. They are definitely appreciated.

I would like to take this opportunity to state that we have made a recent update to the freighters section;

Main Freighters Gallery Page

Yes, RV's!! Enjoy.

regards,
Lucas
