No activity?

Give me a break. Where are all the regulars.

I spent the weekend out of town. Boardgaming.

Played:
18Neb x2, TTR:Europe x4, Cleopatra & The Society of Architects x1, Hansa x1, TTR Card Game x2, Stone Age x1, Homesteaders x1, Terra Prime x1, Tongiaki x1, Dominion x4, El Grande x1, Pitchar Mini x2, and one other that I know not the name of.

And some Spirit of the Century, too...

And between thursday morning and monday evening, there were 35+ threads with activity... pretty typical, actually....

I'm here. Just haven't been posting much. It's also summer out and I've gotten outside a bit more than usual. Plus I upgraded my computer and can now play D&D Online since I got a new graphics card - I'm surprised how much fun it is. Might try EVE Online next.

I've also noticed the postings being down some. I thought it might just be the 4th of July holiday.

Present!

I am here, it is just that after years and years (okay, like three) I have finally got my group to play Traveller5 so I have been busting my butt trying to act like a real Ref and have things ready as opposed to my usual winging style.

Plus, I just lurk a lot these days. Real life is also being rather harsh and I just don't have the gumption to get here and post a lot. Plus lazy. :D

Well I've gone nowhere - if I count. The posts may be down a little for the holiday season, but I think I've posted to more interesting threads the past few weeks than I have for a while. Perhaps we're going through a quality over quantity phase. :)

I have noticed a few missing 'faces' - Ty and S4 for example - or maybe the management have erased them and I shouldn't mention them? ;)
I believe Dave Chase was reinstated along with several others when we had new leadership, but perhaps he's been busy too?

So yes, there are a few old timers whose posting isn't as frequent as it was. (sorry to anyone I haven't mentioned, BTW, I've probably missed you but didn't think... I'll stop digging, shall I?)

Nope, they (S4, Ty, Dave) haven't been tossed. They have all been conspicuously quiet for some time. While there have been a LOT of permabans lately, they've all been spammers. Hasn't even been a temp ban of note lately.

General rule of forums during low traffic periods: If you feel that there is a lack of interesting discussion, try starting one yourself. IMO it's better than complaining that people aren't around to entertain you (and more constructive than complaining that the board has become a ghost town).

ell, it always seems like when things "click" in a certain direction, then this board lights up like no one's business. Otherwise activity gets restricted to a handful of usual suspects.

If S4 is the same Supplement 4 that is over on Mongoose Publishings forums, then he has been more interested with Conan d20 than Traveller at the moment. (The majority of threads on the first two pages of the Other Roleplaying Games section over there were started by him.)

Don't know where the others are.

Yup, I am around and check the board/forum daily if not several times a day.

But, I am also busy doing hay farming. Once a month and it takes 2 to 3 weeks each time.

I have ideas and comments but I also know that due to the printed word not being as forgiving to some who read it, that being tired is not a good time to post things. ;)

Glad to hear nobody's been kicked out. :)
Presumably, as Fusor says, it's just a matter of generating threads that people want to post to. Flame wars are good for that, but they're also good for getting people removed, so I wouldn't advocate starting one. Then there's the old favourite topics - piracy, anyone? But they've been staked through the heart so many times I doubt if anyone has anything new to say.
They'll post when they feel the need. Don't worry about it.

Also here. Wishing there were more people in my area who would play Traveller with me and my group.

My experience over the last four years has been that my net access has been restricted. And whenever things click "right", there's lot of activity on this BBS. More than anyone can keep up with. The orange folders get lit up like a Christmas tree across the board. When things click "wrong", then activity is limited to the usual suspects with an occasional smattering of new folks who know absolutely nothing about Traveller. The same thing happened with me on the SFB BBS.

Not a big deal. I certainly don't blame anyone of the COTI, RPG Realms, nor even Mongoose (so far as I know). I shrug my shoulders at it.

*EDIT*
p.s. just an FYI, I have filed a report with the state of California regarding the matter, but, like I say, it doesn't involve too many true Traveller patrons.

I'm certainly not an old timer here but I plan on being one someday. I've very much enjoyed using this sight and hopefully have added some reasonable posts.

After a couple of decades of not playing Traveller I've started up a MGT campaign for my group. Perhaps you will want to move this post to another thread; I just don't know which one.

I had them generate there characters and then design a ship they wanted to start off with using your shares and mortgage. Then while the ship was being built I gave them 6 months to spend on personal study to hand pick some skills they wanted but did not get or to raise their levels if they wanted. This was just a onetime thing to do right after getting out of their service.

Get a level 0 in some skill = 1 month
Level 0 to level 1 = 2 month
Level 2 to level 3 = 3 month

Spend 6 months later they went to the shipyard to pick up their ship and someone impersonating them stole their ship the day before...and the campaign starts with our party doing detective work stopping a systems wide starship chop shop ring.
