Noble Lands

When I made an order thru FFE, I got as an extra a cardboard sheet with info on NOBLE LANDS. Has anyone else received this, and if so, is this information found in canon literature or is it new material?

It covers IMPERIAL LANDS, TERRAIN HEXES, NOBLE LANDS, NOBLE LAND GRANTS, etc.

Noble goodies!

Being exceedingly brave, he steps out on to the limb, looking out for Angry Mods, wielding Ban Sticks...he states the following:

Hell Yea!

Yep, one of the cool groovy things about T5 is we finally find out what the actual fiefs are and how much do say, a lowly Baron makes out with. Plus other goodies in the same chapter. It is one of many awesome things that I love about T5, I mean besides it being Traveller.

Now, I probably shouldn't say more, so for once, I won't. Plus I got to go back to work later. :D

EDIT: And yeah, I got one too.

So it seems I've got 4 hexes on Wypoc/Lanth, and 32 somewhere else....

mine wasn't on card, tho', but on goldenrod paper, included with my Baronial Patent.

Battledress familiarization you say?

That would imply Marine or Army Instructors....

How much time can I get with your people if I ferry say four of your guests from Regina and the survivors back to Regina, in the ISS Blue Rose (see .sig for specs/papers)?

Yours,
Magnus.

The trip is aboard the Hunting Excursion Ship (a converted 400Td Fat Trader). The actual instructor is Detatched Scout Dar Willardson; the familiarization course is a week, and occurs during jump. Army and Marine instructors are avoided due to a "suck-it-up" mentality, tho' Col Shushugliar does verify the trainer and occasionally loans bodies for security purposes, generally an NCO and two recruits who go through the training as well.

Prior longarms experience is a must; if you can't fam-fire at His Grace Col Shushugliar's range in the Regina system, you can't buy tickets.

Participation is, of course, at your own risk. Between 12-17 hours to suit failure, and the 44000kg flying pouncer you target, survival is always at risk.

His Excellency Scout Mason Soltar-Stone discovered, the hard way, that Dragons can, will, and do take a bite out of air/rafts. Totalled the enclosed air/raft, and then his right leg, despite a fully equipped post-duty-life IMC TL14 Battlesuit.

(for the in-character impaired: Scout Soltar-Stone and Col Shushugliar were PC's, and Scout Willardson was a recruited NPC with Instructor 3 and Battledress 2, using a hybrid of CT and MT rules. My patent is provided by Mr. Miller, as a Baron, and I've always claimed Wypoc/Lanth as my homeworld on COTI, and as my TML Landgrab. The hunting expedition was developed by PC's in a game back in 1992... and I actually rolled a 44ton hiland flying pouncer... 4 hexes would be a rather impressive chunk, tho still not much of the planet, given 420 hexes, it's about 1%... and the dragon's range covers some 10% of the planet. In 1124, IMTU, a licensed psionicist discovers them to be protosentient... thus ending a 17 year run of expeditions hunting them, averaging 2-3 expeditions per year. Given the KCr500 cost of the adapted suits, and the KCr250 to refurbish a suit after the expedition, the price is not actually that high. Dragon hunts have killed half a dozen PC's.)

To My Lord Aramis. Wypoc/Lanth [2011LA]

My Brother,

I understand upon a bit of thought why you might do such training aboard the vessel you do. The thought of four people romping about, even in training mode, my lovely new yacht but a bare two years out of the yard, well frankly it is a scary concept. So I am forced to retract that offer. However all is not lost for I have another proposition for you.

I hail from and get back to when I am able, Credo/REGINA it appears we are neighbors. Though I have not yet heard from Capitol yet, I am of a certain class by Famili associations. It is with those associations in mind, I must also inform you that not just from their point of view expenses wise, personally I have no wish to hunt mighty beasties in the weird atmo.

I do however receive the odd Mission or two from the Crown's Ministers and such a skill as you offer would be quite an asset to me. While I prefer not to have to be involved in situations that require armor, a Traveller's life does not provide such a preference. In such situations, it would be rather pleasant to do it inside a rather spiffy set of BattleDress with the requisite skill to employ it properly.

I understand that you obviously can not provide such a service with out some renumeration and thus I would happily provide my own way to your Barony and pay the MCr 1 fee. This way you still get a very much deserved fee and the savings accrued from not having to deal with another snotty, know everything Noble mucking up your equipment.

If at all possible I am able to draw up on some additional funds if a greater proficiency could be gained. If nothing else I can always write it off as a lesser expense than a Huscarle unit. One, maybe three suits and I get training to use one of the units and watch the saving roll in.

Hoping to hear from you soon,
I remain ever a humble servant of the Crown,
Magnus.

Unto His Excellency Baron Magnus Thornwood,
of late residing in Regina,

Doth His Excellency Honor-Marquis Aramis, Baron Wypoc,
and Vassal of his Imperial Majesty Strephon,
and right lineal descendent of Baron Alyas Wypoc,

Send...

Greetings!

My Good Baron, should you choose to engage my crew in the far less hazardous environs of the Cargobay of the Huntship WRSS Expedition, whilst on a pleasure cruise in the Regina System, my staffers would be most honored to do so for a right proper sum of KCr500 per month for the ship, KCr10 per month per student, and no fee for non students, to a maximum of 10 persons in party; up to 6 demountable staterooms may be carried, to be paid by you, for additional entourage if needed.

Arrangements should be made through the offices of Dalinaag LIC at Regni Downs.

In his Imperial Majesty's Court and Service, I remain,

Aramis, Baron Wypoc
