Just sprinkle in a few balkanized worlds into your subsector. Little corrupt banana republics and gun-barrel princely states make great locations to sell off, well anything!

Letters of Marque could be obtained for the right price.

</font>[/QUOTE]Also you can include criminal syndicates who wish certain ships/cargoes to not arrive or arrive at the syndicate's client(this happens today especially with easily disposed items as vegetable oil, refined petroleum products).
Also some shipping concern wish to get rid of a ship either for insurance or because local authorities have become interested in it.
And booty which might not seem worth much to inhabitant of a low tech planet. I remember a recent successful piracy where a group of female pirates took over a cargo vessel to loot the crew's laundry.

Ahhh, my favorite villain, the insurance agent! Dun, dun, duuuuunnnnn! There is no greater hive of scum and villainy than an insurance company!
How about an investment bank’s collections officer?

Manax,

Shipping is a fascinating subject! I learned somethings about it while doing a project for Gillette several years ago.

Did you know that tractor trailers are loaded not just with an eye towards weight and distribution, but also with keeping the price of the load in mind? As the guys there told me, you don't want to put too much 'money' in one truck.

Read 'shipping container' for 'truck' and the ObTrav explains itself.

Have fun,
Bill
