Well, there *is* the hypothesis (not sure if it´s completely serious) that life on Earth is descended from microorganisms in the trash left behind by a visiting starship.

Izzt the Elder, wandering the barren universe, sets down to sample on every world in an ecosphere... depositing bacteria on each of them, from the soles of his spacesuit.... fast forward a few billion years... and those bacteria are now about to repeat the journey... from a thousand worlds

Hee hee. I just realized the level of paradox if you assume that humans originated on earth, but a misjumped time travelling human brought the bacteria here that eventually evolved into all life... including humans... I'm my own great great great great great..... .. ......great great grandpa...
