OTU History: should threads go here or somewhere else?

I can't figure out if threads about the history of the OT, or other very general topics, should go here or somewhere else. My question about the historical progression of Aslan tech levels, for instance, doesn't seem to fit in a "meet, greet, and socialize" forum.

Generally, my opinion is they go to the IMTU area...

but they're also fine (if era specific) in the various editions' forae.

That said, I'll put it before the moot whether we need an "OTU" area.

That's the one forum where they're definitely inappropriate. Unless you're trying to keep YTU as close to the OTU as possible, of course. :p

Except that some people insist that the CT universe is different from the MT universe is different from... [...] ...is different from the MgT universe is different from the T5 universe (one of the latter two would then be the only OTU).

That said, I'll put it before the moot whether we need an "OTU" area.
I certainly support such a notion enthusiastically. I've suggested just that on previous occasions.

An OTU area would be a good thing.

Then we can argue what the OTU is :)

Is it the T5 noble paradigm OTU, is it the GTATU from 1105 until the point of departure, is it the TNE OTU retconned to 1105, the MgT OTU that once again retcons many CT OTU features.

Maybe we should wait until the publication of the MgT Intro to the 3rd Imperium that has been announced since that will be definitive canon (apart from the conflicts with T5).

A final thought, such a forum could be used to construct a definitive CotI OTU.

I often find myself agreeing with Hans that the various rule systems and contradictory setting elements are a result of a snapshot in time attempt at describing things, and that there exists the potential for an underlying setting that can incorporate all the key paradigms and cut out the sillier contradictions.

I like the idea of an OTU forum as well, for basically the same reasons already stated.

[m;]Discussion on the need for an OTU forum moved/restricted to the moot.[/m;]

Once a decision is made, I'll revisit it outside the moot.
