Peer of the Realm!

I just noticed!

*bowing low and flourishing*

Sir Skull, Sir Shane, congratulations on your elevation to the peerage!

Although I do expect that there are probably about 36,309,672 peers ahead of you both in line for the Iridium Throne!

The Emperor obviously recognizes character when he sees it!

Hunter, for those who might be interested, could you please explain the background of the commissioning of the Officers and elevation of the Peers? Perhaps in the form of a citation :D !
I think members of CotI would like to hear about the exploits and achievements of their fellows!

Imperial Officers are those who are Moderators here.

Peers are those who have had at least one product published by us (PDF or print).

Excellent, I noticed my knighting earlier today as well. We should hold a formal party.

I've also seen "Imperial Libarian", whom I suspect are in charge of the Library Data.

Actually the use of Peer here doesn't involve Knighthood. Perhaps I should come up with a better term. The way it is set up now, Peer comes just before Knighthood.

I'm slowly trying to work out the scripts for the titles and awards stuff.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Yup, Hans Rancke-Madsen and I are the custodians of the musty old Library Data stacks. I've been shirking my librarian duties lately, but that's mostly because we aren't supposed to validate our own entries and it had reached to the point where most of the entries awaiting validation were mine. Which reminds me, when I get a chance I need to check the queue to see if it's built back up yet...

As a matter of fact I know there's at least one waiting your attention, but I wasn't gonna bug about it for a while :D

In fact it may not be properly library data material but I'll leave such decisions to those in charge.

The entry on fixed weapon mounts, right? Since it contains some CT-specific game rules info I'm not sure it really qualifies as a Library Data entry, but I'll give it some thought. In general, anything that requires any sort of judgment call is going to languish in the queue for awhile, while anything that just requires me to open up a book and verify your spelling should get passed through in (relatively) short order.

I put it up because of the (incomplete) reference in the Gateway to Destiny PDF (doc p 40, pdf p44) asked about eleswhere. I'm not sure if there are other references or not, or if this is what MJD and Hunter had in mind, or if possibly they are thinking of editing before print. I can see staying away from rule specific entries so its good to have some guidelines, maybe a note on the ILDS submission page would help?

Peer, in the sense you are trying to use it here, does refer to "Peer of the nobility". So in theory, we are ranked nobility without actual titles.

So I exceeded my athority in giving myself a title to which I was not entitled. Ah well, I can still look down my nose at everyone else in mock distain.

Hunter, it looks like you've already got the concept of "Offices" worked in, i.e. Chief Librarian and Imperial Officer. You appear to be using it to signify individuals who contribute to the operations of CotI, or some other Traveller body. It seems to me that you might find it more intriguing to make "Offices" fit the sort of input that the member has contributed. For example, the recent work on Starports 101, when completed, might result in the award of SPA Director - (named sector), or Port Director - (named port). The author of 76 Aliens might get Dean of Sapientology - (named university). It might be more work, but it's colourful and would better describe the nature of the player's contribution to Traveller canon, particularly for major works. It's also unique to each project or contribution.

Peer of the Realm does denote nobility, albeit without holdings. IIRC, that's SOC 15. That could continue to denote smaller, but still significant, contributions to the milieu, or other more general support to the cause.
