With all the gloom going around the different RPG forums following Dave Arneson's death...I try to look for something cheerful...as where I am it is a beautiful day.

Anyhow, we all know that Gary was in insurance before he took off for a full time job at TSR and we know that we had a sense of humour...

I've been reading a lot of tributes to the late (very great) Mr. Arneson. He should be reckoned right alongside Mr. Gygax for his contributions. RIP.

For sure, I know a great many people respect Dave more than Gary. Clearly, those early years were a time of shifting loyalities as the game took off...and as with most creative ventures (when working for no or little money) it tests the most firm of friendships let alone business partnerships. Both men had very large egos due to fate and luck, Gary's name came first. But, D&D and the whole hobby has to be indebted to Arneson's contributions.
