Natral Talent Feat gives you a +2 to your PSI test

the Max PSI listed as 18
what happens if you roll a 17 or 18 on the test then apply the bonuis would put you at 19 0r 20 ?

Since the chance of it legitimately happening is less than 1.9% of the time, (17 or 18, 0.463% chance for an 18) sure let it happen. (However if you are going to let it happen then it should be a one shot 3D6 roll, known only after the feat is chosen.)

Basically it isn't going to come up, unless you get really liberal with how the PSI strength is going to be rolled.

It usually is a freak thing. (Otherwise the percentages would be higher.) GM's call.
I personally, under those circumstances, would probably allow it.

Its not really an issue is it in d20? Attributes aren't capped at 18 anymore so hence 18+2=20 unless theres a special rule in the psi section.

Theoretically at level 20 you could add +5 from level raises to that but then you're getting to the argument over whether the initial roll is a hard cap.

Thinking about it a minute, I'd say the initial result is a hard cap personally but then a psi seems to be very limited as they are by the requirement to spend feats on powers and limited psi pool so an extra few points per day won't really make that much difference I suspect.

Actually, the rules say that Psi is not an ability score, and thus can't be increased through attribute increases every four levels. (See the Traveller's Handbook, pg 188, for the specific quote on that.)

However, I'm sure that's ignored as a House Rule in many campaigns.

I enforce it, but I do allow Natural Talent to up a natural 18 to a total of 20, which is the actual topic of this thread.

Hope this helps,
Flynn
