Real Star Map into Traveller Map

What kind of adaptations? Modifications?

I've started my own Solomani sector based on a 3D star map flattened down to 2D, and I don't like how sparse it is beyond 9 parsecs.

I'm hoping to add stars that would not be seen from Earth due to low luminosity, but I don't know if such a thing was considered when the Interactive Atlas of the Imperium was made.

And the math to figure out what luminosity of a star would still not be seen at each hex from Earth just boggles.

If you've already done this work, thank you!

The main modifications were:

1) "Flattening" it to 2D (real space is 3D).
2) Fitting it to a hex grid (i.e. rounding distances).
3) Adding a few "yet undiscovered in 2011" dim stars, typically brown and red dwarfs and K class stars to round things up (plausible but not based on "real data"). These are the "NSSC" stars you'll see on the OV map.

FWIW, I have used ChView in my own writing. It gives sufficient data on the stars as a starting point, as well as distances between each star.

Now, I'm annoyed.

I downloaded this and tried to print selected maps for my own use, but kept having trouble with it. This was a few months ago.

Now, I can't find it on my computer, nor is it in my Drive Thru RPG library.

Grrr...

Downloaded what? Astrosynthesis?

Umm... No.

Sorry. I seem to have problems being specific lately.

I downloaded Golan's Outer Veil pdf...

I had a computer crash and apparently didn't do a backup of my computer, so the pdf is now gone.

Nor is it in my virtual library at DriveThru.

There is an old Challenge or Travellers Digest I forget which one but has the American Arm from 2300AD in a 2D format.

Just been populating this. Local part of the Solomani Rim adjusted to real positions ("height" in and out of the page not yet shown).
