Subject: The Knighthood Project.

This Rumor is over heard by the players as they go about business on Capitol (2118CO). It is heard as part of an on going conversation between a young Baron hailing from Regina and doing work here and there in the Imperial Bureaucracy while awaiting Confirmation of his Titles and Grants and another party. The standard issue look of suppressed worry and wonder is on his face. It is a look worn by many minor nobility when they first hit Capitol. The technology jump is a bit for even natives of TL-F worlds. He wears an Imperial Navy uniform denoting a junior grade officer, His Department is Logistics as shown by his Imperial Starburst surmounted by a golden cog wheel. A Badge of the Order of the Spinward Marches graces his uniform as wel, and if questioned will say that he is a Squire of his uncle "The Count".

This Rumor is only a starting point for further adventure and could possibly result in being Mentioned in Dispatches, or if played well, perhaps an audiance with HIM or his Ministers. Use of this Rumor is up to the discretion of the individual player or referee.

Rumor 42. ..frankly the Star Chamber is plainer than you'd think...what?

The Knighthood Project? I heard heard from the 1st Lord of the Admiralty after a meeting that it involves some Cause near and dear to HIM. Appearantly it has every one in the Spire jumpy hoping that they haven't somehow angered HIM recently. Rather funny if you don't think about your home and holdings going up on the block. I haven't heard anything from either Lord Eaglestone or HIM.

So basically for me it involves lots of off the record meetings with Lord Eaglestone, about how to handle it Though why exactly the Admiralty seem to be handling the public end is up in the air as far as I am concerned, unless it has something to do with the Navy. Maybe we need another TL-G Battle Cruiser. I know we could use a few in the Marches.

Honestly I am hoping for to keep my digs on the old homeworld, Void forbid I have to make home with out a gas giant so near. Also I am hoping our Order makes the cut...

The players may also come across one of the Rumors below and follow that to the same end, which is a beginning. All are presented to lead the player and Traveller to the same place as the above.

Rumor 23. From a private log. Subject 23-433sm-0013. Date: secret.

I am leaning back against the arm of my rack in my single occupancy stateroom and gazing at my beloved Homeworld, Regina, capitol of the Spinward Marches Subsector in the Third Imperium of Stars and Rule of Man, she rotates below me. Through a lucky sequence of orbital mechanics and screen real estate, none of the starports are visible. The ever present gas giant Assiniboia looms in the background. Though there is question if loom is the right word, Looming implies some sort of threat, it speaks of intimidation, If you see one thing all the time no matter how big it ceases to be threatening. I wonder if the Zhodani think of the Empire like that.

Regina's primary star, Lusor shines down on my hometown of Credo, The world's two moons, Harcourt and Brumaire are near by but hidden by lack of place to display them. Still in the background the white companion star, Speck is visible, which is fine by me. The stars are I why I joined Navy in the first place, to see new stars, new worlds. Yet it is good to be home at last.

Music is playing in the background, as I wait for a Process to complete its run. It does, but I just can't get the second to run, but it is unimportant in the larger scheme of things anyway. Still here we are thousands of years of striding the stars and yet the computers still are never fast enough. It has some thing to do with the amount of use and data throughput, bandwidth, but mostly growth. It is late and I need to be rested one never knows when duty will call again.

I really hope and pray His Imperial Majesty does not sell off my house by accident. Still I see the value of the Knighthood Project. I do wonder what it will do to the Imperial real estate traders market. I suspect the Imperial coffers will be filling with Credits, to be used well in a manner which will in the end benefit all His Imperial Majesty's Citizen's and Subjects...I just really hope he doesn't sell my house. I really like the place.

It has come to the attention of this corespondent that something is afoot here in the Capital. Squires bustle to and for carrying scores of data packets in a variety of forms. I have seen actual paper being shuttled about. True most of it in very serious storage cases but none the less, quite a bit of real estate is being looked at by the Ministry of the Interior. Some of the documents that this reporter was able to gain access to go back to the last days of the Second Empire, the Rule of Man, or as it is known due its collapse, the Ramshackle Empire.

Sometimes we forget that there are over fifteen thousand worlds under the Sovereign Rule of the Third Imperium. Take a minute and roll it around in head, say it slowly a few times, don't cheat and just imagine the numerals, say it "Fifteen thousand worlds.", do this a few times. Now go over to your wall and ask it do display them all. Now say it again and you begin to see the scale of the goings on here on Capital. Something big is in the works and it involves the Knightly Orders and their holdings.

Due to diligence, some digging and having some contacts in the Imperial Bureaucracy this corespondent has discovered that what ever is going on has a Project name, so you can guess that it is of some importance to the Imperium as a whole. That name is the Knighthood Project. While only draft materials have been seen it appears to be linked to a chararitable cause of some sort. It is known that it has the Crown's Sanction, and right now is in the planning or early infrastructure phase.

In response to this the markets here on Captital have been fluctuating on rumors of the project which some say has been going on for years, yet others report that it is a recent move. No one is sure and as a result things are rocky in the markets, especially real estate. It is expected the market will rally once news of the project is announced one way or the other.

More will surely be forth coming in the form of an official announcement by the Minister of Communications and Information.

Rumor 13. Dirtside Regina (1910SM) a gate opens, perhaps you know where it is but of course if you do you can not speak of it. Out of that gate glides a sleek, dark GravCar. Its look consistent with an advanced model, possibly TL-F.

As it passes the threshold its color alters, you would have be standing right there or getting feed from sensors placed in the area. We all understand that if you have observed this by sensors you had best to work in the complex and in the StarMarine Base Security Detachment. As the car gets farther in to traffic the body begins to morph altering its shape to a medium grade GravCar, beginning to appear of the local tech level. Once it has traveled some ways from the gate it is indistinguishable from many G-cars humming about, gliding just above the ground and many more through the sky on preset safe traffic lanes.

Another bit of data that one might be able gather, if they briefly catch sight of it before it bleeds in to the new paint job, is a small seal on the doors with equally small letters "IEOD" underneath. The seal is the Imperial Starburst, upon the black Star of the seal, there is an golden Aegis overlaid with a black Caduceus. It is the seal of the Imperial Efficiency Optimization Division. Funny thing is that trying to track down the agency or establish where in the Imperial Government they lie on the organizational charts or what the agency's purpose is, meets a wall. The canned response is that they help 'optimize the efficiency of the Empire'.

It has been rumored that the beings who work for the IEOD have high level clearances, and are direct Agents of the Crown. An IEOD Agent is rumored to be the source of the leak to the media that broke the story on a variety of Imperium wide news nets that His Imperial Majesty, through the direction of select Minister(s) was offering Land Grants and Knighthoods. Though what the purpose of such actions might be are open to considerable speculation. One speculator claimed that the Treasury is in need of capital influx and has come upon this method as one of many to raise funds. Another speculation is that is some sort of Imperial PR Campaign for the newest Edition of the Imperial Standards (Comprehensive, IY 1100). Of course, one individual is of the opinion that both might be true and that the governance of 15,000 plus world Empire of the Stars is both complex and a potentially large drain on the Imperial Treasury. Only Official Electronic Draft documents have made it outside the tight security surrounding the project.
