Scout Corridor

If you feel like it, add some grime, personal touches ("art" ;) on the walls and such), a duty roster, post it notes, that stain that won't come off, patches, spliced cable runs outside the utility runs, a dim light bank, etc. etc. :smirk:

I second that motion. It'll take the "feel" from Star Wars to Outland or Alien, which, I think, has a more Traveller feel.

I always liked the image on the cover of this Star Frontiers adventure module:

If you look closely, you'll see a Coke can in the column between the pilot and nav seat.

Actually, there is plenty of room for melee weapons. (I've practiced in a 5' wide area with Kenjutsu, C&T Broadsword, and SCA Heavy. It's tight, but doable. A 10' wide footbridge resulted in a 4 man frontage...

It's pretty tight for 2 men frontage, but doable.

Seconded. Almost roomy for 2 man frontage if using foil or fencing saber.

Only then; I fenced rapier and heavy, plus kenjutsu and Scots 16thC Cut & Thrust. Once you get to "real" weapons, you need room for the off hand; one could be full on (which is really 3/4 on), and the other only half on... three of 4 hands...

Similar "live" experience. Épée and sabre fencing. Iajutsu (steel vs bokken used in Kenjutsu). SCA stick and board (of course).

First off Andrew, that's a terrific looking corridor.

I did some mockup corridors of my own in Hexagon and they looked just as roomy too.

Perhaps corridors should be 'decorated' with random pipework, panels and workstations that intrude from the walls, not big in terms of volume, but intrusive enough to make the place feel more cramped.

Come to think of it, you could package that corridor stuff and sell it on Renderosity, it looks better than some other ones I can think of.

That is a good pic. An idea, though: Could those handles on the side supposed to act as an emergency ladder if the gravity fails? They would have to be set a little closer together.

I mention this because your picture brought to mind a long-ago scenario where our scout was boarded around the engine room. Just before they reached the bridge, we turned off the gravity and cranked the scout to its full 2 Gs.

For the record. Cats always land on their feet. Aslan don't. heh-heh-heh.

When the Traveller in Second Life project I was involved with faded away, I kept on with building the ships, because I really liked getting a feel for the ships. I never did manage to get the classic Type S interior to fit into the hull, and I also had some trouble with early Judge's Guild merchants, but the Golfball worked out very nicely. If I can find a place to build the bigger ships, I might go for that.

One one of my builds, what looked very roomy on the deckplan got very cluttered when I actually built it and tried to walk around. Quite an experience that was, i tell you!

Yeah it was me, I have all of Andrews stuff on my laptop as illustrations. In the next game the boys will discover a Type S adrift ion an asteroid belt, so will need to do some exploring ... This will be excellent for that game! Keep going Andrew - your work is fabulous!!

We watch your Traveller movie (which starts on the box) as the start of our game each week (like the credits of a TV show). It helps that we have the same table, the same Spinward Marches map laid out and the same Deluxe sized box on our gaming table.

Who was it wanted interior pics for his kids? Mithras? More grey cells died today... :(

Hmm, the iris valve looks familiar. Might have seen it here in a past discussion about how they could possibly work. I'll try to hunt down the old post in a bit (if someone doesn't beat me to it) and see if that yields who did it.

EDIT: Nope, don't see it, might have been thinking of Andrew Boulton's work on the iris valve which is similar.

Great image. I have one suggestion if I may, controls for the doors. You have to love IBL lighting. It really brings the details out. How long did it take to render?

Gorgeous work!

Although if you're going to give the fellow a polo shirt like that, you might as well pop his collar and give him madras shorts and a pair of boaters... ;)
