Scout couriers

anyone else ever think of upping a scout courier?? I know its silly, but thye are one of the most versitle base ships I have run across. I have done two different mods for them, both EXPENSIVE as all getouts. The forst is a massively upgunned version, used primarily for a group of former Imperial Marines, giving full weapons, and upping not only the armor, but the power plant too (sooo much weight saved but getting tech 15 armor, instead of the std.) I also mounted a set of chameleon mounts onto the ship, using battledress to figure out the volume needed. Great for anti-pitate and anti-ship(read, skip tracers) tactics. (who expects a pair of marines to come knocking on the view screen, with TDX placed around the edge??)
The other version i came up with is mounting a pair of small fighters on external docks, and upping the ship size to 150 tons. higher jump with figthers aboard to help cover the big brother/mommy ship until friends get there.
I welcome all opinions and thoughts

Sure I've done that. My dream ship was a scout outfitted with some armor but mostly 6G Man drives...so nothing could catch it. (I think that was T4). I think I designed one once as a snatch an grab vehicle. It had 6G, some weapons, and carried a bunch of marines in bunks. The idea was to jump in system, head straight to the target, grab it and leave in fast order....never used it though....NT

DM Dracos,

You're absolutely right. The old Suleiman scout/courier is one of the Hobby's favorites. If a 57th version of Pimp My Ride or Monster Garage exists, you can bet dollars to donuts that scout/couriers are the ones getting the makeovers.

Would you care posting your two versions here so the rest of us can stea^^^^, I mean, admire your designs?

By the way, welcome to COTI.

Have fun,
Bill

Under MT and TNE, I made light surveyor variants many times. Check the TML archives for the S2-A... that's my TNE variant Type S2 Serpent for light survey duty.

I've also made MT J3 versions of the type S... tight but doable.

In space no one can hear you pump up the bass...

Still it's streamlined so you might want to pack a truly enormous amp that goes all the way up to eleven on a first contact mission so you can blast some TL3 natives with sound and generally convince them of your own divinity.

Strobing triple pulse laser turret.

A bridge wash basin carved out of a giant diamond with iridium* taps, features hot, cold and cristal (or it's 57th century equivalent) and all the seats on the bridge have to be trimmed in some kind of super expensive real leather.

Giant fish tank with uplifted dolphins who probably also serve drinks.

Extra hydraulics in the landing gear struts which allow the scout courier to bounce up and down for no apparent reason.

* So the Emperor really just sits on a giant fountain pen nib?

Combine this with the rock splitting sound system, and you have the 57th century version of a mobile disco.

Kinda scary, really.

Hmmm what a fascinating idea for a traveller campaign.

A team of hard working travellers turn their scout into a mobile disco and travel from starport to starport playing irritating childrens songs at ear shredding decibels as part of an elaborate money making scheme.

How will they make money you ask? Simple people will pay them to go away, far away and never come back. Of course the system defence forces might be smart enough to know that even the smallest chance of agadoo reaching their homeworld is just too much of a risk and that shooting them down on sight would be wise.

A small cockpit for two crew, a double bunk and the rest is just cargo, fuel and engines. Oh boy! I can see it in my head now! Shame CT probably won't allow me to build it =(

Crow

You could build it ;)

Just get then to share a small craft cabin.

In CT LBB2 that would give you 21t of cargo (assuming you get rid of the air/raft but keep the turret).

Build it using High Guard or T20 and you'd get even more cargo capacity, especially if you build it at a higher TL...

it would be cheaper too ;)

Hmm...maybe the Maghiz was actually a Disaster Area concert...

We actually had our transportation provided by a rock band (don't remember the style name for ultra-heavy-metal) for a while. Their ship was great! This one guy had a thing about nuclear grenades, though, that got us into trouble....

I wish I could remember their names....

Sweet...

Pimp that ride . . .
Gold Turret socket rim, deep purple metallic fleck paintjob, space effects (ground effects for your spaceship), a tweaked transponder that plays theme music, deep maroon shag carpet, disco ball in every room, waterbed, a complete collection of Barry White albums, crystal and gold accented control stick, an extra Book 8 fusion plant and robotic brain to power that 2 dton sound system that uses gravitic technology and the ship’s jump grid to transmit the music through a vacuum directly into the ships of others.
Oh don’t forget that sexy computer voice . . .
“Hey baby your jump drive is fully charged and ready. . . oooooo, push it to jump sweetheart.”

i would love to post them, but only one lil problem, had to move and cant find them right now, dont know if the other players have copies or not, but as soon as i find them i will post them. and maybe if anyone is interested would also post my versions of the ships for battlestar galactica...dont know if anyone would really be interested in say a 500,000 t carrier/battleship

Remember, Colonial One can land inside Galactica's giant hangars, and she's got two of 'em (though one of them is out of commission due to being turned into a gift shop in the miniseries).

Also remember that Pegasus (a different, more modern class than Galactica's) has facilities that enable the construction of Vipers and Raptors.

Do it at 180 dtons under LBB2; engines as if it were 200 dtons, but crew as if it were 100 dtons. To whit --

2 states 8 (p only; others optional)

About MCr125, in quantity
displaces the equivalent of 6 cutter modules
TL9
the _Night Wind_ class</pre>[/QUOTE]Then fold an entire portable stage/studio/commune into a cutter module that you can haul around from one Interplanetary Burning Man Festival to another... or, if you're the boring sort, I suppose you could fit a planetary survey module or a field hospital module or something, you know, practical in there instead...

Don't forget if you paint it red or put stripes along the sides you should get an extra 0.5G of acceleration.
