Second Imperium SuperBattleship

BTW, which CT:HG spreadsheet are you using? The one I've got has "bugs in it, Mr Rico, millions of 'em!"
I take it that once a CT build is done it will converted over to MT, as per contest rules. Right now, Mick is getting a prize, Andrew, if we see more wonderful modellings (as I wouldn't mind seeing his take on the comet crash) and I guess I better provide one for whomever does the MT conversion...just to make everyone happy.

You see, I do still have pity. Anyone wishing to embelish the backstory, feel free...but off limits is the "thing" taken on board. Sorry, game designers' territory.

lovely cover concept!

i like the idea of modelling a scene with the ship's open hangar, a few known ships on the way in and out for scale ... and a battle raging nearby...

I have a few deckplans brewing as we speak, but I don't have those modules. Care for a quick sum-up of their approach? Thanks Sigg!

That's looking fantastic. The windows are okay, they just look a little randomly scattered. My biggest concern is the lighting. It looks like it's lit by a desklamp. You need to dim it a tad and drop in some fill lights.

I see what you mean about the windows..maybe a bump map to make them look a little recessed? Maybe a little external glow around the edges? They look a little like they've been painted on. The model and texturing is gorgeous. I love the panelling, even without the windows it just looks ginormous. You've really done justice to a beautiful set of deckplans.

The ship just looks really credible. Everything on it looks like it has a design purpose. The globules (bunkers? fuel tanks?) running down the spine just make the ship for me, as does the asymmetry.

Great set of plans by Mikazoid and beautifully rendered. My only one very small crit are the barrels on the guns, they look (to me) a little too large and out of scale which kind of jars with the rest of the vessel.

Thanks for posting Andrew, beautiful work.

Wow - what a gorgeous image!!!

Rough guide to scale - those long horizontal struts that run the length of the ship from the midsection to the command section are 1.5 decks - 2 decks high... so the windows look good to me (but i'd group a few together in rows as well so that they're not all alone and look more like a skyscraper).

Gorgeous.

And a sneak peek of the deckplans should be coming soon...

Andrew – that’s an awesome display of modeling and rendering skills! Well done.

What does this ship look like from the other side or behind? I am just curious to see how the asymmetrical design looks from a different point of view. ;)

Nice animations, both the rotating ship and the comet.

Just my personal opinion, but I think you need to add some detail onto the 'block section' at the back, it looks a little plain. A few bumps, ridges or something to make it look a similar style to the bridge or engine section.

As mentioned previously in the thread, I think the 'block section' should have bumps and pimples for outside docking arms/hatches, etc., and some cool gnarly pipes behind the fuel scoops, etc. etc.

etc.

How about putting the crusier docking bay in the front or back of the block section? Currently it's in the center of all those weapon bays/turrets. That would make docking a bit dangerous in a combat situation.
