If a new OTU milieu came out covering the year nnnn, how would you feel about an official timeline gradually laying down events in nnnn+1, nnnn+2 etc?

A new OTU milieu? Are we talking different points in the current Traveller milieu, or a whole, brand new universe built around the same basic premise of Traveller?

Wow, tough question!

On the one hand, having a pre-built backdrop is pretty handy for a referee and can speed things up.

On the other hand, I think there's a lot to the idea that having the 3I setting has led to too much integration of the setting into the rules, to the detriment of the whole.

On the gripping hand, one can always throw out what one doesn't like.

Hmm. Gotta think about this one before voting.

I agree with wa11eye; the more back story available the more I have to pick and choose from when thinking of plot lines. To be perfectly honest, I would buy just about any new product just for the sear joy and pleasure of reading "new" material. Whatever I don't like/want still provides me with entertainment.

A long and windy way of saying: All this $$$ is burning a hole in my pocket and I can barely wait for more Traveller products to come my way.
