Should DGP articles stay canon? Would you buy DGP Cdrom?

Should DGP articles stay canon? Would you buy an updated MT CDrom?

And see, this is where I am confused. What does "voting" on a topic like this accomplish?

Perhaps it might help if you clarify honey.

1) Do you regularly attempt to convince Mr Sanger to release the material?
2) Do you regularly inform him of the ready and eager market?
3) Is anyone (other than Mr Sanger) preventing the release of this material?
4) Do you often feel like your banging your head against a wall about this (grins)?

I think I would buy and updated CD with the DGP articles but I would be bummed since I just bought the MT CDs.

Haven't even received them yet.

No reason to be bummed. What we are primarily focusing on in this thread are all of the "Third-Party" DGP-Publications (Traveller Digest, MT Journal, Various DGP Supplements & Sourcebooks, etc), none of which are currently available on CD-ROM or as PDF-downloads (at least, not legally). They are not on the MT CD-ROM from FFE.

In fact, DGP material spans both CT & MT.

It gives Marc, at least when I snapshot the results, information he didn't have.

In this case, that his policy towards DGP materials is relatively supported.

So... should I have waited to but MT on CD?

No. The DGP materials, for legal reasons, are likely to be a separate purchase disk.

Here's the list of things *I* know of under DGP copyright:

  • Traveller's Digest 1-22 (Originally CT, later MT and 2300)
  • MegaTraveller Journal Issue 1 (iss. 2-4 are joint GDW/DGP)
  • The Early Adventures (covers adventures in issues 1-10)
  • Grand Survey (CT)
  • Grand Census (CT)
  • World Builder's Handbook (combined MT version of GS+GC)
  • 101 Robots (CT)
  • The Flaming Eye (MT)
  • Vilani & Vargr (MT)
  • Solomani & Aslan (MT)
  • 101 Vehicles (MT)

That's enough to mostly fill a disk.

Also, Starship Operator's Manual.

Any chance Marc would consider an on-line library like Drive Though?

Either way, thanks for the response.

I can mention it to him, but I am fairly certain that if he is able to get the rights, he'll put it on DTRPG, as he's done with the other licensed materials.

I'm also certain the disk will be a whole lot less expensive.

If all four are yes, do I get the first year of therapy free?

The poll closes Monday. Vote now, Vote often, get your friends to vote.

DGP also did AI, didn't they?
I recall speaking to them briefly at GenCon when it rolled out. Any idea why it didn't take off?

As I understand it, it never did formally launch but here was some pre-release hype. Then DGP suffered a hard disk crash and lost all the development material. No backups. So when Roger Sanger bought DGP all he got, in addition to all the Traveller material, was the name 'AI'.

When I talked to them at GenCon, i specifically remember a book for sale, of some sort. Perhaps a demo and a pre-sale. They had told me there were no FTL starships in AI, as I recall. I don't think it went over terribly well. The book had no pics, except the cover. Perhaps, it was some sort of pre-release rule set.
