Cola memorabelia:

I finally found my old(and sadly very faded) "Junior SolSec Scouts" sweat shirt. I got it at a 57K Fun-run. SolSec (in conjunction with Cadre Cola) sponsored these citizen fitness events and provided sweat shirts to everyone who completed the course. My problem is that the garmet is so wore and faded I can't make out the Cadre Cola slogan on the back. Can anyone remember what it was? Something like "We bring you Liberty, we bring you Strife!"

Man, talk about killing a thread!

Between the lines of the previous post I was looking for someone with great powers of recollection(or strong gooogle-fu) to help me with the slogan for Cadre Cola from the movie "The Running Man".

I think it was:
Cadre Cola-we bring you liberty, we bring you strife!

Richard Dawson plays a game show host and delivers the line as part of a live promo spot.

Please help!

Well I think when you first mentioned it my google-fu failed. Now I'm wondering if its because you are blending another memory in? Of course it could be in the movie, just not in what I recall or find online ;)

I can only find two references.

This quote of Killian: "These guys, they never stop competing, you get thirsty just watching them. But, in my line of work I can't afford that filled up feeling...that's why I drink Cadre Cola. It hits the spot."

And an audio clip from the closing credits (which is what I remembered) where the slogan is: "Cadre Cola. It hits the spot."

Ah! :D Found what you are recalling in a script search...

Amber:

It's my synthesiser set-up. I'm a musician. Well I'm really...I'm
really...a singer. I...I...I write music for the network. Have you
heard the theme song 'You give me joy, you give me strife'? Well I
wrote that.

THATS IT!

"far trader" you have saved the last few brain cells I have left. I was planning on rubbing them together till I got the answer or smoke. Thanks for digging. My google-fu is weak, I bow to you superior sir.

Oh, come on, guys. I'm new at traveller and even >I< know the vilani can't even make a beer that doesn't suck. If they can't make a beer that doesn't taste like water squeezed thru old sweatsocks how can they make a decent cola? After all, cola's a lot harder to make then beer.

Well, it is, obviously. I mean, beer was around for millennia, but cola wasn't invented until the late 19th century as I recall, so it was obviously harder to make cola than beer, and the vilani can't even get beer right.

Of course I drink megabelch cola myself. With 3x the cardonation of regular colas, megabelch cola guarantees bigger and better belches in every can or your money back.

Yes, vote! I'm just surprised and insulted that more people like SolaCola than HavaCola. We all know that even though those Solomani fools invented cola, we Imperials (yes, including those Solomani who proved that they weren't fools by coming over) do it better!

I don't care which cola the bartender uses, as long as it's Old Terran Rum in the glass. Ice and a lime, please.

Let's consider ... the Vilani home world, completely inhospitable to humaniti life, the primary science emphasis on fermentation of foods just to make the foods palatable - I suspect when they get their hands on real terran wheat and hops, they may brew the best suds in human space - at least they do IMTU, for reasons above!

Deeep draught of homebrew - if you can see light through it, it's not dark enough -

and to their creator, let the people say, Amen.

I Agree

The Vilani have ripped off every recipe for good food and beverage they run across for centurys. Sola Cola was an original that was proven so good (and the ploe shows it is still popular today) that they had to "adopt" it for themselves.

SolaCola wins the taste test! SolaCola had 27 votes (73%) while HavaCola had 10 votes (27%). Once again the ingenuity and greatness of the Solomani people and it's products are evident. There is no longer any question as to which cola is preferred by humans across charted space, it is SOLACOLA!! Future claims to the contrary can now be seen as what they truely are, false propaganda by the makers of HavaCola.
Thanks for your participation!

Sols, Please...

We Vilani (and that's capitalized, what) were in the beverage game when your brutish ancestors were trying to make beer out of termite squeezins and pee. Sols don't do everything right, they only THINK they do.

My ancestors mock openly your terran pee-beer.

I think the Baron is implying that the Sollies got American beer, German spontaneity, and French military. I like to have a more optimistic view of the future: German beer, American spontaneity, and American military.

I wonder if the Baron has tried "Every" Sollie beer? Dark Bitters, Ale or German DuppleBach Mit Dunkle are not "pee" Beers.

Villani Cola kinda reminds me of vinegar but that is just a personal opinion of course...LOL
