Solo Wargaming!

Precis Intermedia is releasing a book that is supposed to allow you to play your favorite wargame by yourself.

The Solo Wargaming Guide

I can't help but wonder if this would be a good way to play out some Book 2 space combat, a Striker scenario, Fifth Frontier War, Dark Nebula, Azhanit High Lightning, Snap Shot, a High Guard capital ship encounter, or a battle using Mayday.

If anyone has any experience with this, please report back your findings.

I'm interested!

I solo game traveller all the time...as a result of the combat systems efficiency I have lots of experience rolling up new characters...

Current solo character...Mitsuko Baptiste...ex belter and now full time free lance explorer!

I have such high hopes that she might survive longer than 6 months game time.

Sounds intriguing. Let me know when reviews start surfacing.
Now that I think of it Donald Featherstone had a good book out from 1973 on the topic of solo wargaming.
I wonder if this new book is the same or different than the widely-hyped Game Master Emulator from a few years ago...?

Both Federation Commander (Star Trek) and X-Wing (Star Wars) have had house rules made for solo miniature play/robotic adversaries. When I have been solo playing with X-Wing, I run both sides (obviously). But that gives me practice running either faction. I'll bet at least the space combat in Traveller could be run like that as well.

Star Fleet Battles has had rules for automatic opponents as well, plus the monster scenarios (most of which do not use EA and move by automatic rules).

The SFB Cadet Training Manual also has automatic opponent scenarios.

And just about any non-hidden information 2p wargame can be played by hotseating oneself.
