Solomani Freedom Army

Your thoughts on the "Solomani Freedom Army". I'm thinking of using them as an [real world political group redacted] type of organization on some of the worlds in the Albadawi Subsector in the Solomani Rim. On some worlds they would be more of a freedom fighter guerrilla group, on others a political group, on some worlds they will be supported by a lot of the population, on others they will be considered a terrorist group by most. They will be covertly assisted by SolSec and Solomani Navy with training and equipment out of the planet Krypton on the Solomani side of the border. A Solomani shipping line will be setup somewhat like [real world covert organization redacted] or by some brave Traders trying to make it big like the Confederate Blockade Runners during the War Between the States, with some longer routes coming from the Capella Subsector and the Solomani side of the Magyar Subsector.
In the last few years, the situation on a few of the planets has heated up, and the Imperium has decided to take action.

The political situation will be interesting, depending on how OTU you want to make the campaign. In CT times, the Rebellion is way off (if ever). The significant major event is Terra having its Captive/Military Rule (Type 6 Government) status going back to IIRC Civil Service (type 8) in 1110. Less overt control and oversight of the populace. The Imps are not stupid and will still have fleets stationed, but relaxing Military Rule will be a net benefit to Confederation primary goal of someday retaking Terra.

Your revolutionaries cannot be too successful. If their successes delay restoration of civilian government to Terra, THIS IS A BAD THING. If and until the war restarts, the best targets would be to try to change governments on the Imp side to make them more sympathetic to coming back to Solomani. Systems still under Military Rule will draw Military Responses and escalate. Civilian governments not so much.

Intelligence gathering, assassination, planetary revolutions, etc. are all cool. But like the [redacted] reputation as I understood it and the Confederation itself, there was factionalism. In this cloak and dagger world of terrorism/revolution your Solomani Freedom Army may in fact ratted out or hunted by SolSec itself if they get too enthusiastic or successful or endanger the overall peace.

Until the Confederation is ready.

SolSec would have already talent spotted and co-opted key leaders in the organization. If a state intelligence/security agency is running a special activities/paramilitary operation on a galactic scale they would be thinking 3-4 moves ahead. SolSec would burn a few charismatic leaders as martyrs for cause and slowly and carefully slide their guys into key positions in the organization and its endgame power structure.

There's going to be an ongoing counter-Solomani Confederation effort in any subsector of the Rim. The nature of it may vary. Notably, Fenris/Sol (SR 1830) is still under military rule after Terra's return to self-government. The key is to keep it from getting too out of hand.

A large scale attack would bring the Imperials down on the cells like a ton of bricks, and possibly reduce sympathy. A small scale armed insurgency, it'll be the local nobles and planetary government trying to put it down.

And yes, SolSec would try to insure they have their people in certain intelligence and logistics roles. Insurgencies don't last long without external logistical support. Although at what point would they say, "We're in too deep, loosing too much money, and at risk of exposure?" can happen when the organization lacks a religious base.

Yes I have but Andor is a recent accessible work highly relevant to galactic empire maintenance and a story, our stock in trade.
Andor, which I enjoyed as a Star Wars fan, is rather two dimension and silly. Skarsgard was the real success in the series. Running an Insurgency watch the battle of Algiers ( left wing film but the concept is the same)
