Solomani Marines (Cannon and Speculation)

Ok, I'll add one tomorrow, complete with CT and Striker stats. By the way, should there be one GMG per squad or one per fireteam?

Since the Marines are more assault/shipboard forces, I'd say they should use small craft since most of those have better acceleration than grav vehicles and can carry a heavy armament.
The Holy Wind will be hard to pigeonhole then - would it be a covert-ops vehicle (due to its massive electronic countermeasures and high-tech sensors)? Or would it be a vehicle for Marines deployed in security missions, or even for Naval security troops on groundside SolNav bases? The main advantage of the Holy Wind over the Dropship is that its cheaper BY AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE; so, for prolonged groundside work, I'd use the Holy Wind. Dropships are for ship troops, which are most of the Marines.

EDIT: Gauss Machine Guns are now available here.

Canon would certainly suggest they use the "Holy Wind" - AM6 shows that a Confederation Marine character can choose vehicle skill in grav vehicles and in fact the example ex-marine on page 19 has grav vehicle-1 skill.

The "Holy Wind" is not only far cheaper than a dropship, but it is also much smaller, allowing many more to be carried by a naval vessel for the amount of troops they can land. It makes sense that in most situations it would be preferred to an expensive and bulky dropship.

I wouldn't say the "Holy Wind" was lightly armed cf the dropship. It carries the same fusion gun as a TL14 Trepida.

Depends on the ruleset at hand - in Striker, for example, ship weapons - even on small craft - are WAY off scale when compared to vehicle guns. YMMV, especially in FF&S 1 and 2.

..as opposed to the Holy Wind's TL-14 RP-X which in Striker is DF-4.5km/9km/18km; Pen-67/56/32; Hit Bonus+2

A difference to be sure, but a massive one? Given the price difference I would suggest not.
