Starship combat question

I was trying to understand the Gunnery crew targeting AC hit (don't have my book in front of me, sorry). It says to add the size modifier of the ship that you are targeting to determine the AC hit, but the larger the ships get, the more negative the size modifier gets. Should it be subtract the size modifier? Thanks.

The size modifier should be applied to the target's AC, not the to-hit roll. If you want to apply it to the attack roll, then reverse it (so a -8 becomes a +8).
