Starting a Game

Hello. I'm new here, and I had a few quick questions. Where do I post the recruitment thread for a play-by-post game? Do most players around here tend to prefer freeform or stat-based games? Is there an online dice-roller?

I'd say recruit in the OOC (out of character) PBP area and advetise it in the area specific to the rule set you plan to run the game with if appropriate (CT section for CT rules, etc.).

No dice roller on this board (that I know of, but it would be neat ). Plenty out there though.

No personal preference re freeform vs stat-based. Best game I was involved in started stat-based but evolved into freeform at it's best.

Intrigue and interesting adventure. Most here are into the Traveller to the extreme (OK only a few
So we are looking for something a bit different than what we already have read.

Other than that, I agree with far-traders take on PbP.

Hello and welcome aboard.

Yes, the PBP OOC thread is where you advertise and do the initial set up for a PBP. I run a PBP here that will be wrapping up soon and this is a good site for traveller and the PBP area is ok but... I recently joined a game at www.rpol.net and they have a dice roller and other features for the GM that make things easier. Since it is not a Traveller site, or even a Sci Fi site, finding players there might be hard (the GM for the game I'm in advertised here and on other forum(s)). The plusses for having the game here are that getting feedback from others in the Traveller community is easy and also you are giving back to the community by letting them live vicariously through your game since I believe more non players will read your PBP here than on rpol.

I have been doing PBP for just under a year. Others may have a better take on things.
