(Apologies if this anomaly has been noticed before.)
I must be a bit slow. The Merc Cruiser in MT is denoted as having a 5USL configuration (_Imp Encyc_, p 83).
However, the design rules (_Ref's Manual_, p 63) state that config 5 (i.e. a Sphere) cannot be Unstreamlined (or Airframe, for that matter); it can only be Streamlined.
Therefore this must be a typo, and all the arguments about whether the Merc Cruiser can land on Garda-Vilis, or scoop fuel from a GG, vanish under a spot of Liquid Paper as we re-designate the Merc Cruiser a 5SL design.
Am I right???
(Personally, I'd also be willing to re-designate the Patrol Cruiser and Safari Ship as Airframe, but that's another argument.)
