Striker Book 3 Autoloaders DS 1 and DS 2

Hello all,

Referring to DS 1.F 5 the weight of an autoloader is the weight of 30 rounds of ammunition and that weight is split 50/50 between the gun mount and chassis. Open vehicles the autoloader weight is added to the vehicle's chassis weight.

In the DS 2 Design example the TL 9 11 cm medium velocity gun one round of ammunition weighs 35 kg and RAP rounds weigh 70 kg.

The total weight of the autoloader is 30 x 35 = 1,050 kg for normal and 30 x 70 = 2,100 kg for RAP rounds. If the vehicle weapon mount is open the weight is added completely to the vehicle's chassis weight.

In DS 1 the tank design example's main gun would add half of the weight to the turret and the other half to the gun mount, right?

Yes, I know the everything gets added together, but I'm just making sure I have the autoloader requirements down.

Per Book 3 DS 2.B Crew installation of an autoloader in a vehicle reduces the gun crew size. I have been reading this to mean that I can decide that the weapon has an autoloader. DS 2 doesn't seem to require adding half of the autoloader weight to the mount even though DS 1 states the requirement to do so.

Should half the weight of an autoloader be applied to the gun mount in DS 2 if DS 2 Step B elects to have a autoloader?

Yes

Having an autoloader means you can get rid of any loaders so weapon's crew drops to 1 - the gunner.

I read the rules that half the autoloader is with the weapon (since it is shoving shells into the gun) and half to wherever the ammo is stored - possibly the turret or chassis

Cheers

Thanks Shield for the reply and confirming that I'm on the right track, regardless of the details I used to asks the question.
