Striker Book 3 Laser Guidance DS 2M Features versus DS 9

Morning all,

I'm curious about why the laser guidance system requirements for tech level, weight and price in DS 2 CPR guns and DS 9 Tac Missiles are different?

The warhead for a tac missile is a modified low velocity CPR gun round according to the details on Book 3 page 21.

I suppose that laser guidance may have been developed for tac missiles and then adapted for CPR rounds, but I don't think the process took one tech level.

If laser guidance was adapted from tac missiles for CPR gun rounds I'd think the weight and prices would the same.

Of course I could be wrong.:D

That's another one of those "just because" items; I can't really see any logic to it.

My best guess is they had some real-world example they were trying to emulate, and it just happened to be a bit different from the bomb guidance examples they were emulating. Real-world examples often vary quite a bit for no reason us outsiders can discern.

tac missiles only need the hardware to survive 30G's.
CPR Guns, 100 or more.

Morning Carlobrand,

Actually your best guess is very good and dredged a memory about adapting components from one system to another. Thanks for the memory jog.
