Surfacing

I don't drink often or much, but as the old saying goes "Salzburger blood runs better thinned with alcohol," we are taught to drink at a young age. A cultural thing I guess. Small world, someone from my psych class just walked in. I haven't played steel panthers too much, a man can only have too many mistresses, I made a Soviet campaign for PG2, it has the Czech and Russian approval:

Playing with Traveller is fun as well, I scabbed a bunch of the organizational symbols from Niehorster, I should put them in the gallery for use by others. Though I have to be careful, I have been making up units since I was young, I found a bunch of organizational diagrams from when I was young for D&D, it's a too addicting time waster.

I never tried the PG games - I have all the TalonSoft gomes: West and East Front II....plus all their ACW and Napoleonics. The Napoleonic games being the ones that are not only the most interesting to me, but seem the best thought out and made by the company. They were also among the last so that might be why.

East front 2 was good (and PG2 looks similar in scale and look), but steel panthers is better at depicting tactical scale turn-based combat on a miniatures level of detail. Right down to armor slope, morale checks, and getting the tool box shot off your tank making it take longer for your crew to get the tank moving again when it throws a track 'cuz you are racing it all over the battlefield like some ATV. And I like building the maps.

And yes, I think I do have too many "mistresses": 3 girls, school, Traveller, SPWAW, my online EVE (spreadsheets in space only because my brother pays for me to play - I hunt down player's ships and he manufactures and sells the take with our munitions company) sessions, online shturmovik activities, writing fiction (not often enough), models for commission or fun, shooting this Sunday with my former co-worker and my kids, and the eternal search for a job. huh - for someone who ought to have a lot of time on my hands I seem to have very little.

Better shed a few hobbies, or rotate them a bit. i get bored easily - that's my real problem.

PG2 is battalion level, the other ssi games are of various quality, pg2 has the best graphics and a huge mod-ability. I liked the talon soft stuff, but it had a strange diagonal grain to the play. No problem getting bored, just switch to something new and go back to the old later, I'm like that, and I write fiction as well. Here is a pg2 screenshot, most of the icons are my work, I thought of making a striker efile, lord knows I don't have the time. PG2 has the nicest maps and icons of the old strategy games imo.
