System Tactics

Of course the rail launchers from the 50s/60s were for anti-aircraft missiles, not anti-shipping missiles.

Much of what seem to be a Traveller Missile seem more anti-aircraft sized than anti-ship sized.
The missile supplement plus Striker warhead spec has the turret missile at 15cm width and 1 x meter length.

For comparison the modern AIM-7M sidewinder is 12.7mm x 3m. So our missile is both shorter and fatter.

My assumption based on CT HG batteries is the bay missile attack is 15x as powerful as the turret missile. It is listed as 25cm in diameter, so 15x volume with that width works out to 9 meters in length.

For comparison the Harpoon is 34cm diameter, 4.6 meters length, and the SSN19 Shipwreck is 850 cm diameter/10 meters length.

That would make most missile bays more of a 1.5/2 deck affair with 1 missile per tile.

An alternative take might be that 2 bay missiles equal 15 turret missiles, in which case we can treat each bay missile as 7.5x volume and 50-ton batteries fire 2 missiles each shot, 100-ton batteries fire 4 missiles. Each bay then has 25 battery shots.

That yields a 25 cm/4.5 meter long missile, more in keeping with traditional floor plans and perhaps a bit more believable in penetrating PD defenses.

Actually what you would want to use is a Repulsor Bay or other "gravity field projector" type of device to "gather up" any ... litter ... that might be clogging the space lanes. Not exactly a street sweeper, but you get the idea.

If your craft can match velocities with a debris field, you can use a projected gravity field to "scoop" that debris up and remove it from orbit.

Obligatory shout out to the anime Planetes and the criminally underpaid crew of the Technora Debris Section ...
Standard M-Drives have a built in repulsor. At least, since late CT era. (It''s in Beltstrike).
