Tell Me About Your Character

My favorite character so far (of those few whom I've created) is Dame Michelle Harrington, 5CBA99B, a 4-term Navy LCdr. Her skills are (using the TNE set): Mechanic-3 Gauss Pistol-2 Flechette Gun (IMTU sort of "Gauss Shotgun")-2 Large Blade(Broadsword)-1 Pilot-3 Environment Suit-3 ZeroG Environment-2 Forward Observer-1 Fleet Tactics-1 Ship Tactics-2 Research-2 Computer-2 History-1 Leadership-1 Recruiting-1.
She has a Gauss pistol, a Flechette Gun, KCr150 and a Type T Patrol Cruiser.

She comes from Rilaarga/Lishun, and joined the navy right out of high school in order to escape both her homeworld and her parents, who had a moderate-sized interstellar trading company which they expected her to take over. She served with a little more than average ability, hiding her past, until she saved three fellow crewers and a Rear Admiral from a severly damaged ship's boat, earning a commission for her courage and ingenuity. From there, she was sent on a term of pirate hunting on a Heavy Cruiser in the Vargr Extents, proving her ability for tactics and earning a promotion for adapting and reworking older tactics. From there she was assigned to the INS Midu Suligaasu as chief tac officer in Vland Sector with one of the main battle fleets. From there she mustered out, although she was given command of a Type T Patrol Cruiser and put on retainer to the Imperial Government. While in between Imperial missions she works as an escort and Cadre mercenary to client states in between the Imperium and Extents.

I haven't played her, as I don't have a gaming group. She's only female because I rolled a die - came up even.

born 1058 Scandia/Solomani Sphere

Attended Capital Medical School.

Travelled to Zhodani Consulate where he served twenty years as an undercover operative for High Consul Ottiashav. These twenty years were served in the Guard and involved extensive psionic training.

Returned to Imperium with his wife (the High Consul's daughter) to take up his duties as Count of Scandia.

Bought a commission in the Imperial Navy and served as OC NIC for the Deneb Grand Fleet. Persuaded the Grand Admiral to allow him to attack the Sword Worlds.

Operation Pearl was a great success despite the huge cost (in Cr, lives and materiel) and the emperor created de Vaincenne Duke of Gram.

He was then appointed First Lord of the Admiralty but while on his way back to Capital news broke of the death of the Emperor and of the Duke of Gram's appointment as Regent for the Emperor's grandson (I didn't know anything official about Strephon's familly).

To cut a long story (he was 242 when he died) short eventually Marc-Ange became emperor and established a dynasty etc...

My universe's history goes from 1050 to 1920 written over a very long time and periodically re-written to remove juvenile obessions...


I do have more serious characters but Marc-Ange sticks in my mind.
 
i have some old mega characters that I played in the late 80's. I won't bother showing their skills, the GM I had at the time didn't believe in skill limits. But my favorite was Jake Plasmod, demolitions expert extrordinaire. My favorite weapon was explosive boomerangs. "But Jake, they are wearing BD-13's! Not for much longer! Jake whips high explosive boomerang at the approaching squad and jumps behind nearest building/tank/pillbox/etc...


Patron,"We need to get the experimental reactor out of that fortified building before they figure out how it works." Jake,"Do you need it in one piece? Or is in a few chunks acceptable?"

Pilot,"We need to get that ship into space, but the thrusters are gone!" Jake,"I think I can get it into space, I'm just not sure what kind of spread I will get."

Jake, "See, I told ya I would get us through that fortified door and immediate security forces!" Squad Leader, "But Jake, we were supposed to take them alive!" Jake," Well, by the looks of things, we won't even be able to prove they were here to begin with." Squad Leader,"Jake, I think the missing half of the building will be all the proof they need."

Brooklyn Charlton hails from an agricultural world in a settled region toward the imperial core and joined the marines on his eighteenth
birthday to escape the boredom of his homeworld, rather than a sense of patriotism or bloodlust.

His skill in zero-g and vacc suit (two early assignments to Protected Forces Training) led him into a specialised area of Marine activity - Emergency Vacuum Evacuation. After accidents or battles, many crew and troops find themselves trapped on crippled ships (or even ship fragments). The Emergency Vacuum Evacuation team have the duty of rescuing these people, using cutting gear or even explosives. The jagged edges of damaged ships and the presence of debris approaching from different directions and speeds make this an extremely hazardous exercise.

In his last term of service Brooklyn attended Commando School twice - unforunately this indirectly led to his departure from the Marine Corps. Imperial Navy and Marine Corps personnel have a high regard for the Emergency Vacuum Evacuation crews because they know that one day they might need their help. Other, less informed people sometimes fail to realise that just because some guys in a starport bar have the word E.V.E. in big letters on their fatigues that they'll be in some way softer than the average Marine. It was while showing some locals the error of their ways that in the heat of the moment Brooklyn realised that a broken bottle would be a good tool for using his newly taught dagger skills. It was held to be self-defence by the starport authorities and no charges were brought, but when he applied to re-enlist the following year his request was denied. Brooklyn still has issues regarding the influence of psychiatric evaluations of serving Marines and will happily argue with absolutely anyone on the subject.

Oddly, due to the specialised nature of his work within the Corps, that was the only time he ever killed anyone.

Homeworld: Frenzie, Spinward Marches.

Description: Average looking human of possible Solomani decent, 180 cm high and weighing 89kg, physically fit with close-cropped black hair and dark brown eyes. His chest is slightly scarred from his near-fatal wounds during the attempted mutiny on board the ISS Ursula. Wears standard issue marine fatigues while on duty and usually keeps a 10mm autopistol and a marine “k-bar” knife on his belt. Also keeps a specially mounted holo-chip containing video of a ballet performance on the same chain as his dog tags.

Sgt Stiles leads 1st squad of the Ursula’s marine contingent. He is noted as being a strict, yet fair, NCO who can (in the words of Sgt Trask) “chew deckplate and spit nails” but also known to take a subordinates aside he chewed out moments early and explain what they did wrong and how they can avoid it in the future. His prior military record before assignment to the Ursula included a 6-month anti-piracy action on a little no-named planet where he was awarded a Meritorious Conduct Under Fire and his sergeant’s stripes. He has a tendency to be a bit of a workaholic and can throw himself into a mission or duty with little regard for his own needs.

When not on duty, Stiles is very easy going and thoughtful. However, he doesn’t like at all to talk about his past. Question about his homeworld and family makes him noticeably ill at ease, and he’ll look to change the subject quickly. While quite intelligent, Stiles has a tendency to let his emotions get in the way of his reasoning. This habit has often manifested itself as a disregard for the “chain of command.” It is a habit he working to break. He also has a great sense of justice and has a particular dislike for bullies and hypocrites.

Stiles has become close friends with his fellow sergeant Rhys Trask and is fast becoming friends with newcomer Sgt. Jack Raven Feather. He respects Captain Roger Winston greatly and sees him as an ideal officer. Also, although he respects his CO, Lt. Felix Markov, Stiles can find Markov’s command style to be a little too grating. He likes and at the same time feels sorry for Susan “Sushi” Ellis Cray (for her mental state) as well as Raelthae “Dancer” Scarlett-Rourke (for the plight of the D’Kelva).

During the Tremous Dex mission, Stiles met and started a relationship with mercenary gunner and mechanic Dounette Konstantin. Their experiences during the Arden affair solidified their feelings for one another into unconditional love. Recently Stiles asked Dounette for her hand in marriage, which she eagerly accepted despite the fact that they are going to be separated for at least three years.

BACKGROUND: Served one term as a Belter, at age 14, in Glisten. Learned some spaceship and prospecting skills, but didn't like the life.

Has a natural talent with computers as well as mechanical and electronic security systems. While hanging out in a star town stripper bar, he met and fell in love with a young dancer named Shakira. Shakira introduced Swann to her brother, Babaji, who was a member of a smuggling gang. Babaji recruited Swann for a job because of his computer skills. He liked the lifestyle, and the money, so he joined up.

The gang started out as smugglers, but later also got into doing black ops for corporations against rival corporations. They would break in and steal information, or do sabotage work. Rarely, they would hijack a starship or steal a shipment while it was planetside.

The gang would try to carry out most jobs unseen and undetected; weapons were used as a last resort, and usually for self-defense. Tranquilizers were used on guards and other innocents.

But shootouts were sometimes necessary, especially when dealing with other smugglers or criminals. Swann was twice wounded while on jobs.

Lately, after serving five terms as a Rogue, Swann has been undergoing something of a mid-life crisis. Shakira, who never loved him, left him long ago and moved on to other men. Babaji is dead. Most of the other members of the gang are dead or in prison. With most of the people he felt he could trust now removed from his life, he is trying to find more honest employment before he, too, ends up dead or imprisoned.

Swann has a wide selection of weapons left over from past jobs.

When pulling computer crimes, Swann used the hacker alias The Grey Veil. In the criminal gang he was in, everyone used aliases which were colors, i.e. Mr. Grey, Mr. Green, Mr. Black (just like in "Reservoir Dogs" and "The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three"). Swann was Mr. Grey.

Also, while a member of the gang, he wore his hair long and pulled back in a ponytail most of the time. He also had a beard. Now, his hair is cut short and he is clean-shaven.

He currently is serving as mechanic and gunner aboard the free trader Bray Keaven out of Sentry in the Linkworlds Cluster. The Bray Keaven is part of a relief effort bringing medical supplies to Alief, which is suffering a plague outbreak.
 
Next week my group may be putting our current campaign on hold by having our characters undergo training. Once we're finished I'll post my character here. By the way, his name's Cicero Bader-Hicks (and I may change his last name).

She was born to a starfaring Aslan Clan that trades between Imperium/ Hierate worlds of the Trojan Reaches, But since many of her clan are merchants, “Star-born”, their ways have varied somewhat from planet bound clans over the years. Eakehia left her clan/ family against her Father’s wishes to the Imperial Naval Academy on Tobia/Trojan Marches (77th Training Fleet), at 18, having served 1 term as a merchant. She was commissioned, with honors, and has served now six terms. She has not been promoted the last one, ranking as a CDR. Served honorably as the XO of ISS Ursula for two Captains. Has voluntarily resigned her commission as of 136-1105 to transfer to the Rhylanor navy, now serving aboard the 5400dtn yacht RNS Ascendancy.
 
Commander E'eakhia of the Imperial Navy

Her full clan name being E'eakhiarukhtiywetleftuawaikohoSi'khiraokhaorfiyfiyalrtye which roughly translates to:
E'eakhia the un-Aslan female whom has left the many ships to chase the warrior's path of honor amoung the vassals of vassals of one between the stars.

Personality

Commander E'eakhia Known as Eak to her Imperial associates is an honorable individual by her standards which are a combination of Clan Tradition and Naval Training. She finds Imperial Law and History a completely fascinating subject and has acquired a lesser academic degree in law while history remains a minor pastime.

Though her family has instilled into her a fair sense of diplomacy she has a personal distaste for prevarication even in situations calling for more sensitive handling. This propensity for truthfullness has caused her some difficulty with some of her less savory superiors which may have contributed to her current assignment.

As relief from the stress of her duties she practices sculpture in her off duty hours prefering to craft intricate pottery and small statuary. This is an enjoyment she acquired in her formative years amoung her more artistically gifted relatives as her particular family produces quite a quality of fine ceramics as trade goods for the clan. Indeed her family was once subject of an anthropological vidumentary produced by the Regina University Cultural Art Studies Department.

E'eakhia is a sensually oriented sophont preferring to handle and touch objects and materials as opposed to meerly looking at them and has a nervous habit of fiddling or shaping small lumps of polymer clay in stressful situations. At least two ounces of which are on her person at all time when she is not confined in a vacc suit.

She also has a personal preference for certain non-Aslan cultural foods, in particular meat curries and dishes prepared with garlic or varients of soy sauce, the scents of which she enjoys so much she has a tendancy to 'scent her fur' with them. Fortunately due to her more acute Aslan sense of smell she can generally avoid annoying her coworkers with overly strong perfumes which may smell of Garlic, K'fi (coffee), or Curry.

Personal History
E'eakhia, the daughter of a lesser family within her clan, left the ship she was born on to attend an Imperial University and study law. She originally saw this as a method of raising her status within her clan as one who could act as a laison between them and the Imperial Bureaucracy. However during her time there she was recruited for the universities OTC program which appealed to her sense of a structured environment and a personal desire to explore what she considers the greater ekhoao or 'spiritual family' of the Imperium. She has confided this to very few members of her family as she had a difficult seperation when she informed them of this decision. As a result she maintains a somewhat stormy relationship with her family though she continues to see herself in the light of one who is working 'for the interest of the clan' despite her absence from it. It is from this event that she was given her current 'name' within her Clan, though on Imperial records she is listed as E'eakhia Hlyuairoay which is a simplified version of her pre navy clan name.

Family History

E'eakhia was born into a landless huiha (clan) of starfaring merchants and artisans whom have been travelling about Imperial space for a number of generations. Though they are full Imperial citizens, and their vessels display Imperial registry, they see themselves not as vassals to the Emperor as most Aslan within the Imperium do, but as an independant, if motile, nation. As they are rarely at odds with any government agencies this opinion is generally overlooked so long as they continue to abide by Imperial laws and regulations.

Though they have retained a fair deal of their heritage and culture, their nearly constant dealings with many disparate societies in their role as merchants has casused them to become fairly relaxed and less ritualistic than their planet bound kin. To this end their daily spoken language has become a polyglot of both Male and Female forms of Trokh as well as incorporating more utilitarian Galanglic vocabulary, though they continue to use uncorrupted gender specific Trokh for rituals and special events of Clan importance.

Though they continue to maintain somewhat traditional Aslani gender roles this is becoming less and less obvious as the Clan continues to change from generation to generation. Despite these egalitarian developments they still consider themselves to have akhaoye or the essence or spirit of things Aslan.

Appearance
E'eakhia is of rather average height for an Aslani standing at approximately six feet two inches tall. While her fur colouring is somewhat more noticeable than her height, it is no less average for her particular family being a lighter tan on her frontal torso fading to a golden yellow upon her upper arms and back which gives way to darker smatterings of brown which finally give way to black approaching her paws and the tips of her tail and ears. Her eyes are a clear piercing green.

She's rather a stickler for naval dress tradition and on duty she will generally be seen wearing a crisply pressed and spotless Commanders uniform with her naval beret tucked neatly beneath her left epaulette however when off duty she will wear a multipurpose unisex ships jumpsuit. When on leave she might be seen in slightly more decorative if still utilitarian jumpsuit/robe combination similar to styles worn in her clan however it's colouration will be non clan specific.

As for personal decoration she does keep three earrings in each ear that indicate her personal sense of esthetics. Her favoruites being bright red and blue marbleised stone studs set in silver though out of a personal fear of ever getting them cought on anything and possibly ripping her ears she refuses to wear earrings that have any dangling parts to them which seems to be a fashion amoung more planet bound Aslan.

Except for her earrings she wears no other jewelery however she does insist on wearing a deluxe BulovaSeiko chronograph with integrated short range com upon her left wrist.

Her weapon of choice is a standard fifteen round, clip fed, snub pistol usually worn in a navy issue holster cross draw fashion on her left hip as she is right handed, on the same belt over her right hip would be a navy issue clip pouch with two spare clips. Although she considers it improper to wear while shipboard and leaves it hanging on a wall hook in her cabin she never leaves the ship without it except when participating in diplomatic missions.

IMTU, without any doubt the most famous character was:

Sir David James Galloway, Hero of the Solomani Confederation (2nd Class); LCDR Solomani Confederation Navy, retired.

He was generated in High Guard before the Solomani expansion came out (yes, he's that old). The "Hero, 2nd Class" is a decoration, one step up from the Starburst for Extreme Heroism. Yes, that's one step up.... When rolling up the character the player took a -5 on his survival roll while on a Battle assignment in the Flight branch. He made the survival roll and then promptly rolled a 12 for decoration, which got modifed to a 17. Since you earned the SEH if you exceeded the decoration roll by 6, and he only needed an 8+, I thought this guy deserved something better. Since we were making him an ex-Solomani Navy guy I invented the "Hero of the Solomani Confederation" medal by stealing the "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal.

The "2nd Class" is an inside joke. When I made up the decoration I explained that you only received "Hero, 1st Class" posthumously. I then told the player that David James Galloway was the only current living receipient of the "Hero, 2nd Class."

We decided that Galloway won his "Hero, 2nd Class" when he flew his fighter down the barrel of the meson gun of an Imperial cruiser that had ambushed Galloway's fighter squadron. Firing at the cruiser =from the inside= damaged it enough to allow his fellow pilots to escape. Galloway managed this feat since he had Pilot-4 (which is why he was able to survive taking a -5 on his survival roll in the first place).

Galloway was the "living, breathing example of Solomani manhood" IMTU. He was the image that the Solomani wanted to project into my campaign sector, but Galloway himself became rather disenchanted with the Confederation's heavy hand and eventually started working against Solomani government interests (he always kept faith with the Solomani people, however).

It finally turned out (because we thought it'd be fun) that the real reason Galloway had survived his flight down the cruiser's meson gun was that he had a submerged alternate personality named "George." George was very paranoid and convinced that everything in the universe was trying to kill him. However, George also doubled all David's skills (Pilot-8, anyone?). George was why David was discharged/retired from the Navy. In David's last battle his command Patrol Corvette was hit on the bridge by a pirate laser. George took over David, then took over the controls and single-handedly destroyed all the pirates and then began to attack the remaining Solomani ships. The survivors of the command ship's crew eventually overpowered George, but Navy medics forced Galloway into retirement.

We had George pop up a time or two while Galloway adventured and eventually David looked for and found a Psionic Institute that could help him learn how to control George.
 
Have I ever told you about the character I started long time ago...his name was Harvey and he
started as a boot salesman in StarTown, and all his Stats were 00 when he started....He died after the 1st roll of the dice!!!...fell into a garbage compactor!!!, couldnt save him, O'well!!! ;)
